Is a riddle a riddle if it requires detailed knowledge of 1960s trains and environmental sciences? The above question is not a riddle, or is it?

Well if that's the case then I stand corrected. Yay for humanity!

I'm pretty sure overpopulation could eventually be a very real problem. Population has been growing at an exponential rate and there is a very real possibility that we could run out of resources to support future populations if the growth continues unchecked. But who knows what kind of crazy shit scientists will come up with to address those issues.

I'm pretty sure you can jump in a plane or helicopter at any point but I don't recall exactly. There is always GTA Online though. You could easily jump in a private session and do a bunch of that stuff right out of the gate without having to go through some morally questionable single player missions.

Yeah, good point. I'm sure there is some overlap but it was unfair of me to lump everyone into the same group. And I agree that there are a lot of things to enjoy that don't involve killing or maiming but if that is what you are playing the game for, why not just ignore the story missions? There has to be some expectation that if you are going to go through them, you are going to do some fucked up shit.

Well, I've never noticed this thread before. MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I think this has to be it. Given that the operation was done in south Switzerland, that probably means the train would immediately have to go through the Alps after departing to get to Germany. But then you would also have to assume that there are no lights in the train tunnel and no interior lighting in the train (which is given no mention in the riddle). So if that is the answer then it is indeed pretty terrible.

Having finished the game I have to agree with this. This is a game where you play as a bunch of murdering, thieving criminals. You are the bad guy(s) in this game and you do the horrible things that bad guys do. I find it strange that so many people had issues with the GTA IV story being at odds with the gameplay (i.e. Niko expressing regret and discomfort when it came to killing people and going on a killing rampage 2 minutes later) but are then repulsed by the next game because it gives you characters and a story that are actually consistent with the gameplay. I think it's perfectly fine to be repulsed by the kind of stuff you do in this game but if that is the case I'm not sure why you would play a Grand Theft Auto game to begin with.

Feel free to add me if you want to join us for some good times: xXZeusthecatXx And make sure to join the Idle Thumbs crew if you haven't already; you'll get a little extra experience if you do missions and stuff with other crew members and friends. I probably won't be on tonight but most other evenings I'm on for a couple hours.

I just want to say... whoa! That is about the last possible solution I would have expected.

For me, this game has provided one of the better multiplayer experiences I've had. Instability issues are long gone at this point and there is an insane amount of stuff to do that is slowly revealed to you as you progress through the ranks (which could be perceived as a negative depending on what type of multiplayer experience you prefer). At the outset, you only have a pistol and a few introductory missions available but it doesn't take long for some better weapons and mission types to open up, at which point you can pretty much jump into any race, deathmatch, parachute jump, or story mission as you see fit. The thing I find really awesome is how free roam works as a giant hub for all of the instanced mission stuff. Free roam has a bunch of interesting mechanics by itself (which, unfortunately only become available after you reach certain ranks) such as the bounty system, random crate drops, armored trucks that can be robbed, stores that can be robbed, random vehicles that spawn on the map and can be delivered for cash, and a bunch of other stuff. With a bunch of other people in free roam it is a blast to go around the map trying to take advantage of these mechanics for cash and experience while also fending off other players and avoiding all the shit they throw at you while they are going for the same thing. We usually spend a chunk of time doing some of this stuff and then jumping in a mission lobby to hop between various races, deathmatches, survival rounds, parachute jumps, etc. TL;DR: It's really fucking fun. Also, as you get more adept with the game, you learn to appreciate the way the police work and the challenge they provide (which wasn't really there in the older games imo). Just a quick tip, if you jack a car, take off immediately and people usually won't get a chance to report you since you'll be long gone. I almost never get a wanted level from jacking a car unless I do it in front of an officer. And with the police you just have to keep moving, take crazy turns, and drive into oncoming traffic to shake them. Once you've broke line of site it's just a game of Pac Man.

Awesome! Glad to hear someone else around these parts seems to be enjoying this game as much as I have. I've got 85 hours and 100% completion on single player and 65 hours and counting on multiplayer and I see no end in sight. There is just so much to do and the world is so big and detailed that everything continues to be fun even after 150 hours of play. A few of us have been playing online (PS3 version) pretty much every evening and sometimes during the day on weekends so hit us up if schedules align and you want to have some fun in multiplayer.

I'm gonna go with 1. If they all land on the ground at once that must imply that none of them land on each other and thus the pile would be one leaf thick. Plus, since the number of leaves isn't specified you could assume the answer would have to be the same for a 1 leaf tree and a 1,000,000 leaf tree.

I suspect the answer is 0 or 1. And I'm leaning towards 1.

No, I've reached Skull Island and it was indeed hilarious.

I played some more this weekend and haven't managed to make any more progress. I'm still pretty sure that the first thing I need to do is to fake my death to end up in the Goodsoup family crypt but so far I'm not seeing any clear way forward. I think the solution might involve the bottle of lotion somehow since that hasn't come into play yet and I went through so many steps to obtain it. But there is also the segment in the pirate hideout on Skull Island where the dude repeatedly opens the door and almost blows the candles out. The pressure to finish this game is mounting as I get closer and closer to starting Grim Fandango and having my head explode.

So sorry to hear about Cabot. At least he was fortunate enough to spend his life with such thoughtful and caring people. If only all kitties could be so lucky.

Is that premise really true though? I feel like corporations get a ton of flack for claims they make that go counter to scientific stances, especially from us 'liberals' who tend to be very skeptical of corporate motivations.

Personally, I think the comparison between Whole Foods and a creationist museum is a pretty lousy one. And what point is he trying to make by just cherry picking a few products and dismissing them offhand as ridiculous because of how 'pseduoscientific' the name sounds? Sure there is some homeopathic stuff there that isn't based on hard science but just dismissing the whole place as some liberal pseudoscientific temple without providing any evidence beyond his biologist friend who said some of their probiotics were "bullshit" makes for a very weak article.

This competition works more like golf though where the winner is the one who has the least amount of ignorant assholery.
