I finished off two exotic bounties in the last couple days netting me the Super Good Advice machine gun and the Pocket Infinity fusion rifle. Pocket Infinity seems kind of terrible, especially when I already have the Praetorian Foil maxed out. The range is pretty bad and most of the other stats seem mediocre at best except for the fact that it can fire in full auto mode (but with a pretty tiny clip) and recover missed rounds. I don't really see myself wasting an exotic slot on this but I'll level it and keep it handy anyways. Super Good Advice seems halfway decent and it's cool that it also has the perk where missed shots are returned to the magazine. But it doesn't seem to be anything I've heard of anyone using or talking about so I don't expect I will find myself wanting to waste my exotic slot on this one either. Also, the range is a little too low for my liking. I did at least have fun going through the last leg of the bounty for the Pocket Infinity which requires you to get 200 kills in a Nightfall Strike with fusion rifles. Since I had just picked up the Plan C fusion rifle and the Nightfall had Arc Burn and Specialist, I just kept re-running the Nightfall strike solo and tried to get as far as I could each time before I would inevitably get murdered by some invisible melee guy. That fusion rifle just melted through absolutely everything including yellow bar ogres and in my best run, I was able to get to the part right before the big tank boss which was probably between 1/3 and 1/2 of the way through the whole strike. I'm hoping my next exotic bounty actually gives me something decent for my troubles.

Yeah, I'm beyond stoked to have etheric light rolling in fairly regularly now. I've managed to max out Fatebringer and a couple different elemental fusion rifles (these have become my go to for burn rounds as they just melt through everything), plus I've gotten a 365 shotgun with one of my weapon cores. And after last night I have a fresh armor and weapon core just sitting in my inventory for whenever some good gear comes up. I think the Prison of Elders content is my favorite stuff in the game right now. Even level 32 is a pretty consistent challenge and the amount of teamwork and communication required makes every victory feel so rewarding.

I've never seen one. Sounds like there needs to be one.

Cussedcayuse, Zasa, and I had a pretty excellent run last night. We managed to get through the Nightfall strike, weekly heroic, level 32 PoE, and level 34 PoE all in about 3 1/2 hours. It was especially satisfying beating that Quodron boss at the end of 32 PoE since we were never able to beat him previously and me, IHateDRM and Osmotich had also tried and failed earlier in the day. Sweet vengeance. Also, 34 PoE was surprisingly easy this week once we got the hang of the final boss mechanics. Having Fallen for 4/5 rounds with 2 equipped Kellslayer pieces giving bonuses against Fallen enemies was a lot of fun. And a nice change of pace from the Vex heavy 32 rounds and all the Hive rounds from previous weeks.

It is definitely easy to see it that way at a conceptual level. But their execution was superb on this one and there are a lot of really clever things that they did to personify the way we think about and process things. It's kind of weird that this is supposed to be a kids movie too because so much of it can really only be fully understood and appreciated by adults. Even if it doesn't totally click with you I think it would be worth the 90 minute time investment.

Thanks for the assessment Jon. Strange coins have been pretty easy to come by lately so maybe I'll just go ahead and grab it. I was reading that it would be a solid PVP choice for upcoming modes that won't have radar as it has a perk that reduces charge time right after switching weapons.

So is the Plan C fusion rifle worth getting from Xur this week? It doesn't look all that great but then again maybe there are scenarios where it would be useful that I'm not considering.

Up was a huge disappointment. So much potential wasted on fucking talking dogs flying airplanes. I'm still patiently watching this thread and waiting for some talk about Inside Out. That movie was truly outstanding and you should all go see it immediately.

Jared Fogle versus Prince William. Yeah it's not a perfect comparison but they both have that lifeless, dead inside look hiding behind those freakishly toothy smiles.

Also worth pointing out, the father seemed to have no objection to this and can't be reached for comment because he's in Israel right now. Giant fucking red flag if the dad is totally okay with his kids being placed in juvenile detention and then just goes back to Israel. Good for all three of those kids for standing up to their piece of shit father and that piece of shit judge.

I don't know where the best place to post this is but this is terrifying and makes me physically ill.

Does anybody play Disney Infinity? My wife bought one of the editions for my daughter for WiiU and so far it doesn't seem very good. And it's way more confusing than I expected it to be. There's so many dang newfangled contraptions that you have to put on that base and there's these Infinity coins you can collect and adventures and toybox mode and other glowy mode looking things that I don't understand yet.

Thanks for the tips Jon. I don't have that helm yet so I'll make sure to start rolling on it whenever the helm engrams are available. I'm pretty much trying to max out my orb generating capabilities so I've got Gift of the Void, Armor of Light, Gift of the Light, and Iron Harvest active at the moment. When I play with Zasa, he runs with a similar build but with Blessing of Light instead so if we both pop shields we get armor both inside and outside of the shield. Definitely agreed that Defender is OP for PoE. But man it's fun to run with 2 Defenders. We pretty much have our supers all the time with those subclass bonuses and maxed out Intellect.

I do like the orbs of light I get from melee attacks with my Defender subclass. But what I tend to find is that in any of the higher tier stuff like PoE 32 and above, it usually seems to be a pretty bad idea to get in close enough to melee guys and I usually get wrecked pretty quickly. The best use I've found is to pop my shield near a bunch of guys and start beating the crap out of them when they try to rush me. With the additional shield I get while in my bubble I can usually get quite a few kills, generating a few orbs of light in the process. But even that generally feels like a reckless approach and I feel like I would always be better off trying to keep my distance and kill guys before they can get in too close. Maybe I just need to work on my skills.

Is there ever a scenario in PvE or PvP where it would be ideal to stack strength instead of intellect or discipline? I've pretty much always avoided gear with strength because it seems vastly preferable to have grenades and supers recharging faster than it would be for your melee power.

I've grown pretty fond of using the Vex Mythoclast myself. It worked pretty well for me over the last week and it's range and rate of fire is just right for my play style. But man there were so many instances where I would manage to kill someone in a shootout only to bleed out and die right afterwards. I try to be sneaky but more often than not, the person I am shooting manages to at least get a couple shots on me, and if they have a Thorn that's all it takes.
-
I have been finding Thorn pretty damn annoying in PvP. I did pretty decent in Iron Banner over the last week. Got to rank 5 and even hit the 10 kill streak bounty almost every day that I played (which is usually much more of a challenge for me). It was a lot of fun but I'm so fucking tired of all the post mortem Thorn deaths. Nothing says fun like killing someone and then just watching the last few chunks of your shield melt away with nothing you can do about it.

Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube
Zeusthecat replied to pabosher's topic in Idle Banter
Someone please explain what the hell I just watched. All I did was Google "Mark Kern" since I keep seeing his name brought up and I was curious who he was. That led me to some Reddit post explaining why he was ousted as CEO of Red 5. As I was skimming some of the comments in that thread, I randomly clicked a link that led me to the above video. I honestly have no idea who any of these people are or what's going on but I laughed very hard. -
I made a really sweet fort in my living room on Friday for my Destiny Iron Banner marathon. Luckily I have kids so it was easy to justify spending two hours covering our living room in blankets and other fort parts. But secretly, it wasn't for the kids, it was for me. Also, pro fort building tip: use lots of bag clips to hold the blankets together.

I avoid them as much as I can. If I wanted to go on all the cool "waiting in line" rides I could just go stand somewhere in the comfort of my own house without people sneezing their diseases all over me. When I do go to an amusement park, I always try to go during the off season.
-
I don't really care for roller coasters, mostly because if you ever want to ride on one, you have to wait somewhere between 30 minutes and 3 hours. Waiting in line for something that only lasts a fraction of the time you waited in line is something that really annoys me.

No Goldeneye or Perfect Dark? Or are you only considering games that are currently on your backlog?

I decided I needed to build a fort for my destiny session tonight.

Just sitting at the airport waiting for my flight and bored off my ass.

Not that it justifies any shitty depictions of Mexican culture but I do recall a Bombcast where they talked to the Drinkbox guys about Guacamelee and they talked about how the concept and themes where dreamt up by one of their Hispanic team members who was from Mexico and was really into some of the cultural lore. Supposedly they consulted him on every decision made and worked hard to try to make sure they were depicting the culture in a responsible way. Maybe they still fucked up a little but it sounds like they at least put thought into it.
