  1. Nextbox 1080: The Reckoning

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2013/05/21/the-tech-spec-test-xbox-one-vs-playstation-4.aspx I didn't see this on any of the other spec comparisons but according to GI only 5GB of RAM will be available for games. That seems like a lot of memory required for all of the other processes. "Xbox One: 5/8ths games, 3/8ths other shit"
  2. Games with dogs (pets)

I had a giga pet in middle school. A blue one with a fucking monkey to take care of. That monkey pooped a lot but one flush of the giga pet toilet washed it all away.
  3. Nextbox 1080: The Reckoning

Wow, you win. I'm not worthy. Holy shit.
  4. Nextbox 1080: The Reckoning

I can definitely relate to this. I think I have 49 games for my 360 and have actually had a really good time playing some great games and building a semi-respectable gamerscore from going after fun achievements. I really want to like this system. But man, video games. I like video games. I want video games. I need video games. I eat video games. I sleep video games. I am video games. Yeah, if IE7 doesn't work IE7 does sound like a good choice. We found that if we renamed "chrome.exe" to "chrame.exe" we could run the Chrome browser at work and IT wouldn't catch it. "Firefox.exe" was also renamed to "Firefax.exe".

That sounds dangerous. Everyone will end up dying from alcohol poisoning.
  7. Nextbox 1080: The Reckoning

I wonder if this "all-in-one" entertainment device is really solving any existing problems. They put a big emphasis on using Kinect to navigate and everything but I honestly think I would want to go back to using a remote control after giving it a whirl. All of the existing consoles have all the streaming apps I could ever want and when I did have cable I never once thought it was an inconvenience to have a separate cable box. I actually would prefer separation so my wife isn't filling up the hard drive with every episode of Real Housewives on DVR. But I guess there's the cloud now. I'm sure that will alleviate some of the hard drive space problems. I feel like this is the console for the cool kids and I'm just a fucking nerd in the corner.

If you have the option, try each browser. I found that a good number of forum threads were blocked when I used Firefox. Switched to Chrome and haven't had any problems yet.

Cool. I respect that perspective and I'm sure it will be cool for a lot of people. As a mostly 360 gamer this generation I have become increasingly annoyed by all of the ads and tv content and movie services that have kind of taken over the system. It looks like that trend will continue with an even greater focus on mixing games with other media which I just don't have interest in. Great games will be made for gamers, no doubt, but I have options and the best options for me are those that have more of a focus on video games. Sorry for my dick response to your response. Video games.

Whoa dude, you're interpolating a little bit. When did I mention anything about "video game capability" being sacrificed or that they are doomed? Jesus. I just made the observation that the focus on games seem to be falling by the wayside. This was based on the event that we all just saw. I saw sports games, sequels, and video game/tv show hybrids. No actual new games to get excited about. Sony at least focused on games so they look more appealing right now. Please chill out.
  11. Nextbox 1080: The Reckoning

True. But it is frustrating to see "video game" consoles becoming something that is further removed from my favorite hobby. I think it is reasonable for people to be pissed off about the lack of games on what was thought to be a gaming device.
  12. Nextbox 1080: The Reckoning

Guess that also partially answers the "always on" question. My initial reaction is goodbye Xbox, hello Sony. But I've really been meaning to transition to PC gaming anyways and now that the slate is clean and I'm not already invested in a console this might be a good time to do so. I just want to play games. Is that too much to ask?
  13. Nextbox 1080: The Reckoning

Man. What. The. Fuck. Just. Happened. I guess if you love cutscenes you'll love playing tv shows. I heard words like "Always connected". Any actual confirmation on always on?
  14. Nextbox 1080: The Reckoning

Man, they really fucking like dogs. Xbox Dog.
  15. Nextbox 1080: The Reckoning

So, Ghosts. New world, new narrative, new cast of characters. Sounds like a red herring to me.
  16. Nextbox 1080: The Reckoning

15 exclusives, 8 new franchises. Anyways, television...
  17. Nextbox 1080: The Reckoning

Yay, 4 sports games!!! Wait, I don't play sports games.
  18. Nextbox 1080: The Reckoning

Yeah, I really want to play that "Today Show" game.
  19. Nextbox 1080: The Reckoning

"Xbox: Play Games" Why isn't anything happening?
  20. Coraline Questions and Spoilers

I always thought Wybie showing up at the end like that felt a little out of place. From what you're saying about the book it sounds like "Why were you born" is actually pretty damn clever. So then it sounds like she did create all of the creatures in the other world and to some degree they became more complex and autonomous by the presence of the children's trapped souls or something like that? It seemed to me like once Coraline (I'll stop saying DF) got the three eyes the only creatures left in that world were the mindless bug creatures and anything that was appealing about the world had unraveled. Maybe then, other father and other Wybie were at some level being influenced by the lost children. But then there's still the fact that they start to lose their shit when spider woman weakens. Did the book go into further details about how exactly her parents were captured? Also, was the other world sucking the life out of the real world or something? I never paid much attention before but it seemed like suddenly everyone was all lively and stuff started to grow at the very end indicating that the horribly depressing nature of the world was due to the presence of the other world. Did Coraline's parents start acting shittier to her when they arrived at the house or were they always that way? I just wonder if the other mother had some level of influence over the real world and was able to also influence the behavior of the real parents once they got there.
  21. I Had A Random Thought...

Ouch. Tweezers are for splinters. Period. The year was 2003. I had just graduated high school and moved out of my mom's. I was going to get a sweet tattoo but changed my mind at the last minute and got a cat from the animal shelter instead. I brought him home and decided to name him God. Then I realized that would needlessly offend almost anyone who stepped foot in my apartment so I changed his name to Zeus (a way cooler god with better powers). Had I stuck with his original name I would have probably gone with Godthecat for my username. I kind of regret changing my mind. Never did get that tattoo and for some reason nobody was offended by my blasphemy against Zeus. Socrates would have been proud of my lack of piety.
  22. Candy Box

Started playing this over the weekend and it is pretty gnarly. I am having major nostalgia for Kingdom of Kroz now. I played that game so much when I was a little kid and have never heard of it since.
  23. Coraline Questions and Spoilers

I think she actually physically consumed the children in some way when they agreed to have buttons sewn into their eyes, trapping their souls (not consuming them) in her world and using their souls to power her world so that she could lure in more "food". Then when DF finds their eyes that part of the world unravels until all that's left is the main living room/spider web with the portal to the real world because STH loses control of them. But I'm only aware of what is shown in the movie. It could be that she eventually eats the souls of children that are lured in and maybe just always keeps a few around to help power her world until the next victim arrives. So maybe the copies helping her are other trapped souls entirely or are just the 3 trapped children souls gaining a slight amount of control over the world as STH weakens from not feeding. Or like Ucantalas said, all the creatures in that world could have simply been created by STH and given free will and the souls are used to just expand the limits of the world and further flesh it out. I would think any soul captured by her would be pissed off and want to help DF but it seems like every other creature in that world is doing STH's bidding.
  24. I Had A Random Thought...

That was pretty clever. Better than any human impression I've heard.
  25. I Had A Random Thought...

Has anyone ever heard a decent Chewbacca impression? Is it even possible for a human to make those sounds properly?
