Pretty much.

Fair point and excellent list, spiders would be at number one for me. I guess I'm coming from the perspective of a dude that lives in a highly intolerant area where people are religious about their meat. So in Arizona vegan is tied for first place with Muslims, homosexuals, and people in front of you in traffic or in the store. And Mexicans.

Games Owned to Games Played For A Decent Amount of Time Ratio
Zeusthecat replied to Patrick R's topic in Video Gaming
Speaking strictly of Xbox 360 games. 49 games owned 46 games played for at least 10 hours 43 games played to completion and beyond Games played for over 75 hours: GTA4 Oblivion Fallout 3 FF13 (I'm ashamed of myself) Lost Odyssey Blue Dragon Burnout Paradise Halo 3 Battlefield 3 Rainbow 6 Vegas Games played for over 300 hours: Skyrim I've been on a fucking mission for awhile to clear my backlog and I'm almost there -
And I'm vegan. One of the most hated creatures on earth. Twig, you are like the messiah compared to me.

Just found out today that if I leave my browser open on my work computer with Candy Box running and lock my computer when I leave for the day I keep getting candies and lollipops throughout the night. Fuck yeah.

I swear to my video game collection that my wife described the exact situation you are talking about minus the last sentence when she worked at a hotel restaurant. This is no hypothetical chef. But yeah, I guess chefs are cool. They're fucking dicks but they probably know some sweet recipes.

Oooh, steak sauce argument! So let's postulate that the customer asking for steak sauce means one of two things. Either they just like steak sauce with their steak because it makes something they like taste even better or they want the steak sauce to cover up the bad flavor due to it being cooked poorly. If you think about both cases, should the chef really be offended either way? Even if they were using it to cover up bad flavor wouldn't that imply that the chef did a shitty job? Shouldn't they actually be flattered that the person is still willing to eat their shitty steak as long as they can throw some steak sauce on it? Of course in their minds the answer is no because they are perfect creatures that have gained the ability to cook food that universally appeals to every human being's taste buds. They are so confident in their abilities that they don't even consider the possibility that they might fuck up sometimes or make food that some people just don't like as much. So someone wanting to eat something in a way that is different from how they think it should be eaten can only be a grave insult to them because they are gods amongst mere mortals. RAAAAAAAAGGGEEEE!!

Why are so many chefs so fucking arrogant? I don't understand why they get to be dickheads to everyone they work with just because they have a "culinary" degree. And the disdain they have for people that cook professionally but never went to culinary school is just pathetic. So what? You went to school and learned how to cook food. Big fucking deal. Some people become fucking rocket scientists and still treat their colleagues with respect. Also, why do they get so angry when someone wants a steak cooked above medium rare or asks for steak sauce? Some people like blood and some people like their blood cooked. And some people just prefer some sauce on their steak. Now I don't eat meat but I put Cholula on absolutely everything I eat and it would be pretty bizarre if someone was offended by me using Cholula.

I am in the middle of playing this right now for the first time and recently finished Secret of Monkey Island (thank you Idle Thumbs). There is something magical about these games and that Woodtick music is amazing. My 4 year old daughter became enthralled watching me play parts of the first game and was disappointed when she found out I had finished it without her watching. So I have been replaying it with her and reading every line of dialogue just like I would read her a story and explaining everything I'm doing as I go. Then the other day she said "Daddy, remember when those two guys shot Guybrush out of a cannon? That was really funny!". For some reason it was just amazing to hear her say that. She's watched me play video games before but this is the first time she has actually comprehended the story and become attached to the characters in a game. It was a beautiful thing to witness.

How good it is to be loved by you. (did I get the lyrics right?)

Thanks for the input. I will modify the original post to have the following guidelines: 1. You must pick one favorite and provide an explanation. 2. At the end of your post, you may list up to three runner up games if you desire. No detailed explanations allowed for your honorable mentions but a brief sentence is okay. Let me know if anyone else has any other recommendations.

Idle Thumbs 108: A Premium Price

I don't know what the name of the song is but there is one on the radio I've heard 1000 times where they say "Move along move along". I always thought they were saying "Mow the lawn mow the lawn". -
Rodi, your high post count compels me to obey your rule. But can we compromise a little? I agree that people should have to pick one game. I have really enjoyed reading the explanations for why a game is someone's favorite of all time and having to pick one seems to result in more compelling posts. However, I see no harm in a brief sentence or two that gives a few honorable mentions. I think it makes it easier to pick a favorite if you can at least mention a few others that are in the running so as not to do them injustice. Plus I think it will foster some good "oh cool, you like one of the same video games as I do" type of discussions and give more perspective on why some of these games are considered favorites. When I see multiple people agreeing on one of their favorites (such as Warcraft III and TF2) it gets me more excited to either try that game or go back and play it again. Also, I think it is fair to change your favorite game if and only if you happen to play a game after you've posted your favorite here and that game happens to become your new favorite. I think it is fair to say that you can't retcon though. That's my two cents. At this point I defer to the wisdom of the forum veterans. Let me know what you think and I'll modify the rules in the original post.

Idle Thumbs 108: A Premium Price
Zeusthecat replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I often have this problem. I find myself constantly rewinding as I realize I have no idea what was said over the last 15 minutes because I'm too distracted by work. I would listen to them at home, but video games. -
Excellent choice. That is definitely at the top of my list as well. When I was 16 I would spend all of my paychecks at pawn shops buying up older games. One day I saw Chrono Trigger on the shelf being sold for $75. I had never heard of it but figured it must be a decent game or at least a rare game for it to be going for that much. So I bought it without hesitation and eventually got around to playing it. The artwork, story, gameplay, and music blew my fucking mind and it instantly became my favorite game and has remained one of my favorites to this day. I have since played it through multiple times and have beat it at every point possible to see every ending. I also have the Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross soundtracks and still listen to them regularly. Speaking of Chrono Cross, that game will always hold a fondness in my heart. I can't think of a game that had more of an emotional impact on me than that one.

I think the debt part is irrelevant unless people are recommending school in order to make money. I recommend school because I think learning in and of itself is a very rewarding experience even if it costs a shitload of money. Even though I'm still paying off debt and never use concepts like Fourier transforms in the real world I would still do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Idle Thumbs 108: A Premium Price

Good episode. I laughed and cried tears of laughter. I sensed a little bit of irritability between Thumbs though. Maybe you guys should have a dedicated pissing match episode where you just air out your dirty laundry and scream and yell at each other for our entertainment. Basically, just pretend the whole episode is a DOTA match. -
Oh man, that was good! I never type these dreaded fucking letters but seriously LOL!
-
Yeah, good point. I edited mine and used the power of Bold.

No, I don't think you understand. I HAVE AN ADDICKTION. For the sake of everyone on these forums I had to make a tough decision to stop throwing my pud in everyone's face so much. Less is more.

All right guys, I've been on good behaviour and haven't mentioned my junk for a couple weeks now. That being said, I have a bloody boner right now. Oh god, that is really horrible to actually read. I think that is one case where nobody (except me) should put those two words together regardless of how "bloody" is being used. Damnit, I saw "bloody" and "wank" and just couldn't resist.
-
I recommend going to school. Some people may say it isn't for everyone but I disagree, if you can afford it that is. It is amazing how stupid I used to be even when I thought I was smart. It is amazing how stupid I still am even though I've gone through great efforts to get smarter. Coming to realize the depths of my stupidity has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
-
I just wish I could use the term "bloody" without people assuming I'm a murderer. I would be bloody happy.

I also played a lot of this on 360 and loved every minute of it. The depth and balance in TF2 is not to be underestimated in my opinion. Which reminds me, I finally booted up Steam recently and finished downloading the multitude of updates for this game. I should play it.
