Branches of Yore (or something to that affect). You get one from a chest after beating the Lost Sinner.- 1284 replies

You had me at "Richard Garfield". I'm only sad I read this at work and have to wait.
-
Does it have sweet Brazil references like Chaos Theory though?
-
Regular Features is a laugh.

Straight out of the Depths bonfire, through the slimes, hang a left, through the waist deep water, into the butcher's room, up through to the lower Undead Burg, up the stairs past that pointless hollow with the short bow, left at the female undead merchant, through the aqueduct and boom.

Mechanically, the game is super solid. It's in the MvC style of million hit combos, tags, and whatnot. PC is also the place to get it, as it has the most active community. There's only 10 characters at the moment (with 3 more in the works), but each one is extremely different, with their individual styles touching on common fighting game styles (Filia is your Ken / Ryu, Big Band has elements of the big guys, Hugo and Q, in SF3rd, etc). The lead animator is a part of MechaFetus (NSFW), which was also where Paul Robertson posted a lot of his work in the past. Gross out and exploitation is sort of their thing.

Super Stickman Golf 2 - physics-y golf game, free Threes - a ripoff of Doge 2048 Neuroshima Hex - turn based strategy game played on a hex board. Very satisfying once you grok it. UniWar - Advance Wars on a hex board Super Hexagon - Super Hexagons Ridiculous Fishing - Fishing, also Ridiculous, maybe racist Out There - kind of like FTL but without all the fun parts, is basically fine Elder Sign - Cthullu Yatzee, is also basically fine

90% of the Blighttown hate is the crazy performance hits (on console anyways). The rest is Toxic.
-
Fans of the genre should check it out. 8/10

I think it would be the same word you'd use for someone who fetishizes not thinking about an orange and never thinks about an orange.
-
That's why I throw in that adjective "fetishized"; wearing a scarf and thick frames and skinny jeans at the fair trade coffee shop while you write your novel on a typewriter because that's who you are is fine. Wearing a scarf and thick frames and skinny jeans at the fair trade coffee shop while you write your novel on a typewriter because you hope people will think you're as cool and authentic as the guy in the former case is hipster bullshit. I think this sums it up.
-
I think that describes how "hipster" is misused. For me it's more like "someone who trades in fetishized authenticity as a replacement for being authentic themselves".

^ Dragon Castle Place is exactly where I was ready for the game to be done. There is other stuff that opens up but the above is the critical path.- 1284 replies

That whole area was nerfed in 1.03. A high magic resist shield and a two handed club I could one-shot the mages and sea hags with was the only thing that saved me.- 1284 replies

Idle Thumbs 153: Blondie, Freckles, and Glasses
Reyturner replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I think KR0 pulls off its aesthetic 99% of the time, but dips into self indulgence here and there. The hat on the dog, for example, or the lounge chair the attendant is sitting on at Equis Oil (yet the giant horse's head doesn't bother me for some reason), or the objects used as markers in the mine. Little things that are just a little to clever and stagy to the point of being distracting. 1% of the time anyways. But those tiny holes undermine the whole, and when you're already making something surreal and dreamlike it doesn't take much to lose audience trust. Of course, the game is only 2/5 the way through, so maybe everything will be totally justified. -

I did it! Praise the Sun! therefore Praise the Sun! I was starting to feel Mington's weariness towards the end and just started summoning for every boss to plow through to the end. This game is wonderful but it isn't the masterpiece Dark Souls is.- 1284 replies

"So bad it's good" can't happen on purpose. It is an alchemical mixture one can only achieve through the combination of pure sincerity and incompetence. -

Honest question: is not using capital letters a thing on tumblr? -
Go to Capra's arena, and then down... That's an ominous ellipsis, not a patronizing one btw.
-
Which is the Dark Souls-iest thing about it Every area has a progression from terror -> discovery -> utility -> banality, even the hallway between Blighttown and New Londo.

You never, ever, ever, need to kill those drakes. By the time it isn't a pain in the butt, you can farm other enemies worth more, faster.
