  1. DOTA 2

I've created a thread in the Multiplayer Networking thread.
  2. DOTA 2

League is setup and details have been sent via PMs.
  3. DOTA 2

10 is the max as far as I know. You can join multiple Leagues on the same ticket though, you're only limited in that you can only create one.
  4. Terminal7 13: The Emotional Damage Dealt

Lol, no problem. I'm still working on wrapping my head around the core set.
  5. Terminal7 13: The Emotional Damage Dealt

    RP player?
  6. The Ultimate Playthrough, Metal Gears!?

I've found our missing Grey Fox and blasted Shotmaker. Sneaked around in a cardboard box. Smoked to see lasers. The only really frustrating thing so far is that I never have any idea if I'm going to be seen by a guard. Sometimes they see me from across the screen, other times I'm 5 tiles directly in front of them and they don't aggro. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  7. DOTA 2

So, Idle Fantasy Doto League: Entriech Twig taterdactyl undermind9 casktapper Cleinhun BusbyBerkeley Forbin pkirkner Me Add me on Steam (Reyturn) and I'll get the league setup when it becomes available.
  8. The Ultimate Playthrough, Metal Gears!?

I'll see if I can track down Acid 1. I think I might actually have 2 somewhere... I would need to emulate Ghost Babel, but doable. I'm just going to stick to the PSX version of MGS though.
  9. DOTA 2

I don't know if the Fantasy League stuff is broken or not available or what, but I the Join/Create League buttons in the Community tab are grayed out for me. I'll keep looking around, but if anyone can figure this out, let me know
  10. DOTA 2

It should support uo to ten teams, so I think you're number 6
  11. DOTA 2

For all interested: Dota 2 fantasy league FAQ I'll see if I can get it set up in the next 24h. Add me on Steam @ Reyturn. League timings will be PST based btw.
  12. 2GD Studio does a great job of balancing production value and entertainment. YJames and Statsman Bruno are great personalies to have in Dota 2 esports, and their bants between matches are like 75% fine, even when normal people are involved.
  13. The Ultimate Playthrough, Metal Gears!?

My plan is to play all of them, even the "bad" ones (I've always liked MGS2). Just getting into Metal Gear and it's interesting to see how early a lot of Metal Gear-isms were introduced. I've found a gun in the back of a truck, I've blown up a panel with an RC rocket and I've back-tracked to open previously locked doors with a new key. The codec is here too, with Big Boss giving me orders and tips, though he gets kind of shitty when you ask him about the pistol you find; "you know how to use that... right?". Coming up playing video games, I remember "Big Boss" basically being synonymous with "bad guy", though Metal Gear was never a game I or my friends ever played, not even the NES version. Maybe because of NARC? "Spoilers", Big Boss is the villain. Would his name have given that away in the 1980's?
  14. DOTA 2

I find it hard to get mad at Valve for making something, selling it to people who want it and then keeping most of the money. That's kind of what a company that makes things does. However, I do feel more strongly about the fact that they take the same percentage of the revenues from community made items.
  15. DOTA 2

TI4 Compendium has been released. Anyone up for an Idle Fantasy League?
  16. Love it! Good to see the dotatoes back in action! I also have mad respect for the dota 2 casters who can call the play by play in team fights. I can barely comprehend and react when playing (usually poorly), let alone process the action into words. Is there an archive of Ayesee's Reported! show? I poked around can came up with nothing.
  17. Idle Thumbs 157: Molymoto

OK, so it isn't just me. This IS weird... right? I get the impression they want to reassert the primacy of UE in the minds of fresh young game designers; time was, you wanted a job you learned UE (usually because you went to a "games school" and they told you to work with UE). I think the kids are more independently minded these days and weary of game schools (or maybe the game schools are getting better) and are gravitating towards things like Unity and Game Maker. This might make UE a more enticing tool to learn, and will likely be transferable to larger studios (assuming it catches on, and assuming people want to work at larger studios). Also, having a Unity-ish asset marketplace and a Steam-ish games marketplace AND maybe a Dota 2 / TF2 style in game (UT-Next) marketplace is probably appealing to management. I don't know why my knee-jerk reaction feels negative. This is probably going to be cool.
  18. There are as many concurrent players on League of Legends at any given time as there is on Steam. All of it.
  19. Luftrausers

I went on a mad 23,000 point tear with a laser/bomb/hover-rauser in the first hour of play and haven't even come close in the 3-4 since. Frustrating...
  20. Android Games

Duolingo is Code Academy for languages. Smartly put together.
  21. Chris Remo was into Derek Smart before it was cool.
  22. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Mercenary Kings has lost its shine. If you know that what you're getting into is Metal Slug x Monster Hunter, the grindy repetition isn't bad. The artwork is also lovely and gross in that special Paul Robertson way. The problem is the level design. There are a handful of stages where all the missions take place that are nicely nonlinear, but the enemy placement is bespoke yet sloppy. Too often you have to creep forward to avoid an enemy off camera that you know is there, but won't move until you can see them. Since grind is built into the loop of the game, you'll end up playing the same mission multiple times but I never felt like I could seamlessly get through the stage. I constantly had to stutter-step through screen transitions or wait for an enemy to path out of the way of a landing or do an attack that I know is coming but with hit me in the middle of a jump if I just charge forward with abandon. Grind is fine if you can get into a rhythm, but I can't get into one here.
