  2. Plug your shit

Congrats Gritfish!! I also released a game on Steam today! It's called Button Frenzy, and if that name is familiar to people here, it may be because it's a fully developed version of my Winter Wizard Jam game from last year. It's available on Steam, Humble and Itch.io, and you can find more info here: http://buttonfrenzy.zerofifty.one
  3. [Game Release] Killing Time at Lightspeed

Congrats dude!!! I think I have come across this game earlier as the name is familiar. Will check it out!
  4. This was funny!! I played it through enough times to see (I think) all of the endings and really enjoyed myself. Also, that opening sequence is incredibly good.
  5. SGDQ 2016

You probably already know this, but depending on the game the runs will often be split into separate categories so there'll be a glitchless and a glitched category; similar to how they have 100% completion vs Any% completion categories. So while glitchless runs are out there it may be the case that the selection process for this year's SGDQ timetable has skewed against that type of run. This may not be indicative of a shift in the scene as a whole, since every year GDQ gets hundreds of submissions and are often in a position where they can choose from several different categories for the same game. It could be that GDQ is favouring the glitchy runs for their marathon this year, for reasons I couldn't guess.

  7. Gibball - looking for help (free project)

This looks super cool! I've been using UE4 as well on solo projects and game jams for about two years now, so I can emphasise wrt having to tackle all the different disciplines by yourself. Are you planning on taking this game to Greenlight? P.S. This thread might get a few more eyeballs on the Game Development subforum.
  8. [DevLog] Monumental Failure

    Good luck Spenny!!!!!!
  9. Idle Thumbs 267: Real Slyboots

The reason becomes clear at about a minute into the episode.
  10. Idle Thumbs 267: Real Slyboots

That intro part was unexpected and good!
  11. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

There's still like 3 hours left on the timer I think.
  12. [RELEASE] Explode Mode

Hey everybody. For this jam, I'll be making a game based on the title: Idle Thumbs Episode 6: Explode Mode I spent a while during the weekend not really knowing what I wanted to make, so I made a title screen and menu as a sort of procrastination. Probably the first time I've made a menu for a game that didn't exist yet. So after having spent the weekend thinking about what kind of game this will be, I have the following loose details: The game will be a twin-stick style* arcade shooter in the vein of Geometry Wars and Waves. It will feature at least one explosion There will probably be some kind of novel movement system; possibly physics-y but we'll see * I want to do something more interesting than left stick to move and right stick to shoot, but the general setup will be the same as a twin stick shooter. I'm going to try experimenting in Unreal and see if I can make some kind of physics-based hover tank. I'm not really very experienced with physics stuff so it kind of scares me a little; but a jam is the perfect opportunity to push the comfort zone. It's kind of exciting and different to be working so fast and loose; I usually have most things pretty well-defined by the time it comes to building the game. We'll see how it works out. --------------------- UPDATE This game has been released and you can play it! https://zerofiftyone.itch.io/explode-mode
  13. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

You know that schedule is out of date, right? Or was that a goof that just went over my head?
  14. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

I believe it's free if you own the level, yes.
  15. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

The 7th episode is a mystery location, right?
  16. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

    Thailand, I think?
  17. So glad you're doing this . I had a quick think about this on the way home in my sleep addled state and came to the conclusion that "A Chill Hell" is just the experience of waiting in a queue alongside totally insufferable people, while relaxing muzak plays over the PA system. I had an experience this year when I was taken to A+E (the ER room for any Americans reading) and while I was in the waiting room there was a couple loudly having an argument; a really loud guy who was asking everyone in the room for cigarettes; and another man who was really interested in striking up a conversation with the other people waiting, asking them why they were there etc. This wasn't the track that was playing; but it was similar:

  19. Idle Thumbs 266: Memeify McCree

I'm a fan of Highlander and am sad it never got picked up as the primary competitive format.
  20. Fuck the Banana: The Game

Please don't cheat. Points are awarded in increments of 15 like in tennis.
  21. Return of the Steam Box!

I'll assume you're talking about native support. If so, it's not an easy thing if you're developing in Unreal Engine 4; as the Steamworks SDK version used by the engine at the moment is over a year old. Thankfully, I won't need native support for my current game.
  22. Pharah and McCree. Or even Junkrat.
