  1. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

yeah that article points out a few things that i thought would have improved dear esther and gone home did well, the ability to pick up things and look at them closely really adds to the immersion, and that domain specific interests part of the article is true of gone home, i would imagine the more familiar the family was the better the experience would be, it was definitely the details of their VHS collection and the music there was to listen to etc that got me immersed, plus i was a bit of a rebel and my sister is 3 years older than me so in a way i felt like i was playing the role of my older sister.
  2. GTA V

yeah those are some good points, especially the no checkpoints thing, that made failing a long mission really tedious to keep trying again
  3. Project Godus: Don't believe his lies

it's on my radar of games i will probably get, but if it becomes clear that it will eventually become an online persistent F2P multiplayer game i will pass on it
  4. GTA V

i like Leigh Alexander, but what is the point of reviewing a game (even a mock review) if one hasn't played the game, it's the same as defending a game with a bad (meaning really good 9/10) review if one hasn't played it. anyway, i have been mostly avoiding GTA5 news until it has a PC release date and then i will play it myself before judging it
  5. Project Godus: Don't believe his lies

if there is, i may get into the early access, but i will have to research it a little more, especially since i am not sure if the game is eventually going to become a free to play game or not, it's hard to keep up with sometimes
  6. Project Godus: Don't believe his lies

no matter what the restrictions are, there will still be other people in my game, and i don't like that sort of thing, it would be like if minecraft was only on online servers. what if i am near some other player and i don't play for months then when i come back they have encircled my town, i would much rather have a jupiter sized planet of my own to be the god of, and not share it with other players
  7. Project Godus: Don't believe his lies

the fact that it is going to be a persistent multiplayer has totally ruined the interest i had in this game, it sounds like it would really stress me out, like it would require me to play everyday else MY GAME will get ruined by other people
  8. Breaking Bad

yeah i guess it is kind of obvious, but at some points it's like he forgot why he did all of it in the first place, his family, but i guess he hasn't totally forgot about that
  9. Life

wank is similar to fuck in that it can be used in many ways, but it isn't quite as diverse
  10. Breaking Bad

    new prediction
  11. Breaking Bad

    that episode left me stunned
  12. i always see sequels as being part of the original film (i know that sounds obvious but, some people watch sequels as there own singular thing and don't count the original as part of it) so sequels of a good film always have an advantage, and sometimes a sequel can be so good it make the original just a back story like terminator 2, but sometimes the sequel can be so bad i decide they don't even count like predator 2 but i love both bill and ted films, death is funny in bogus journey

  15. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

well i just played it, i haven't been in the mood for games recently and when it came out i was totally broke. i actually think this type of game (including all the family stuff) would make great horror games, i recently watched the film Sinister on netflix and that could be so easily converted into a gonehomelike game, thriller and crime etc. films/games could also be done the same way.
  16. Idle Thumbs 122: Mario's Picnic

if you could understand the concept of love so completely that you could programme the ability to love, then yes robots could love, they could have all the feels if we understood how the brain worked properly, but we don't right now, so the best we could do is to make a robot imitate love
  17. the conversation about fan interaction, made me think about my internal dilemma i have with this, i think that it is good that fans have input, but i do hope that creators can just think "no, you're wrong, i am going to do it my way" because the thing i like about most fiction is that i didn't think of it, so it is completely new and interesting, but i do think that a community can sometimes have good points and ideas that will improve something, i guess it has to be a balance between fan input and unique creator only ideas. Edit; yeah i don't really like the idea of "don't read the comments" why put it in the public if you aren't going to read public opinion
  18. Idle Thumbs 122: Mario's Picnic

i think one day we will be able to simulate physics to such an extent that you could simulate the universe in super cheetah speed, so potentially we are just a simulation in a game that some alien kid is playing (spore 3000)
  19. Breaking Bad

for me breaking bad has always been set in the breaking bad universe (not reality) it is sort of the graphic novel of superheroes/supervillians
  20. Idle Thumbs 122: Mario's Picnic

i sometimes wonder if america (and other countries) is just a fictional land where TV and movies are set, and england is truman island, and if i were to ever go to america i would just get on a plane that would circle the sky over the sea then return to the america set on truman island (yeah the truman show is one of those concepts that can make you go crazy too) but i (and possibly many other people) have been psychologically manipulated into not wanting to travel the world
  21. Idle Thumbs 122: Mario's Picnic

that is what robots would say to make me think they aren't robots, robot
  22. Idle Thumbs 122: Mario's Picnic

yeah i have given the concept of solipsism years of thought, but never knew what it was called or that it was a thing (it is why the Matrix is one of my favorite films, i used to call solipsism "like the matrix") and it is why i consider myself an agnostic not an atheist, but i don't take it too seriously because it could definitely drive you crazy not believing in anything, i mean who cares if i am just a brain in a jar having experiments done on me, or a being of pure consciousness that made up my reality, i may as well just live in the "real" world and enjoy it
  23. Idle Thumbs 122: Mario's Picnic

is soliptic similar to solipsism? because that is an interesting word i learnt recently, because i think i am sort of soliptic
  24. Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube

not so comical but : why do we play games?
