  1. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Check the shelf--- they were buying two different sizes of tape. Also, most VCR's could record at different speeds with different video quality. I really loved how the labels of the x-files tapes showed decreasing enthusiasm... The first tape, they have the episode titles. Second tape omits episode names but still lists the episodes 3, 4, 5 individually. After that they just go 6-8. I think my parents' basement has a stack of Buffy tapes with the same property. The VCR's are actually missing due to licensing issues... when the Fullbright company finish negotiating the rights to include a full season of the x-files, the VCRs will be patched back in.
  2. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

This is in the game already! There's an option to turn off voiceover when you start a new game. I'm curious what happens at the end when you select this.... Glutton: Regarding the missing VCR's--- Are those gone just because Terry is constantly hooking up and then returning laserdisc players etc. as he reviews them? Or Another minor complaint/question---
  3. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Finished it and loved it... I was really amazed at the way the tooltips represented Katie's thoughts. Has this been done before? It feels like such an elegant solution to the player/character divide. A question--- Also, was there ever an indication why they actually moved to this house? If there was a note I missed it. The Dad's room really resonated with me the most.... If I have a story complaint, it's how many of the back-and-forth notes end with Sam talking rather than Lonnie... Shouldn't Lonnie's house have all the notes that end with Sam's writing? Also, I didn't pick up on why the kitchen/dining wing is locked at the beginning of the game... all the other gating seems to have had a convincing attempt at in-game explanation. I'm about to dive back into the game again for a fresh playthrough... I'm excited to see how much more can be extracted.
  4. Non-video games

My game group disbanded for the summer with the end of the semester, and I've been playing some solo Mage Knight. Anyone tried this? This thing is incredible.
  5. Back to the Future

Oh Subbes, I meant to say in that post but failed--- yes the wireless 360 controller works fine for Walking Dead. Mike---It's so so much better than it was in 2000. The standardization of the 360 controller made using one on a PC so much nicer these days. [Or way worse if you're one of those who's still mad not to be able to click-to-walk in modern telltale games.] Plus steam exists now? Things are pretty sweet.
  6. Back to the Future

Walking dead has a really nice controller implementation... it does a nice thing that I've only ever seen in a few games, where if you push a button on the controller, the prompts switch to controller, and then if you wiggle the mouse the switch to pc. I think Arkham Asylum is the only other time I've seen this. BttF would acknowledge the controller and the buttons did most of the things, but like every 2 minutes some extra interaction would require a mouse or a keyboard so playing at the desk is awkward, and from the couch is impossible. I am using a wireless controller though, does anyone know if it works better with wired? I found out at the end of Mass Effect 2 that it had the same weird distinction between wired and wireless. Speaking of controller weirdness in Telltale games, I had a weird thing in one episode of S&M ssn 3 that all the button prompts turned into PS3 buttons. Do Telltale PC games actually recognize a PS3 controller?
  7. Back to the Future

Telltale games stopped being point and click because they were moving to a controller format. To not use point and click AND not let you control the game with a controller is so dumb.
  8. Back to the Future

How does the pc version of this game not recognize a 360 controller? Did anyone get this to work? I wasn't excited for this when it came out, but I got this game in a steam sale a while back and was trying to play yesterday after finishing WD1... Is this for real? They won't let me click on a place to walk there, and they don't acknowledge the standard controller for a pc either? I don't think I can get through this...
  9. Jane Jensen's Pinkerton Road CSG Kickstarter

I really hate how this group wants to compare itself to a CSA... I love CSA's and spend about half the year as a member of them. The nice thing about a CSA is you're getting better food than at a supermarket, at a comparable or usually much cheaper price. They want to charge fifty dollars a year for everything their studio makes? That's about what Naughty Dog or Rockstar or Bethesda Maryland charges. The analogy feels crass and stupid.
