Woe is me. The update caused a major FPS drop / stutter for me. If I'm next to the edge of the level, it runs perfectly smoothly, but once the screen starts to move my FPS maybe halves and stutters. Makes timing things extremely difficult as you might expect. I haven't delved too deep into trying to fix it yet, but I did try to switch back to the original HUD, as well as turn down the effects etc., but no dice.

Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

I'm okay with a reboot, but then again, I haven't built anything magnificent. I support this idea. Especially if there is a server reset, it could be good to have a lot of people on afterwards to get things going again. -
Yup. Man, those shoes are one of the most important items. I've also recently learned to appreciate the Pitcher's Mitt.

I have ascended, none may challenge me! I beat Hell for the second time. This time it was in a regular adventure, though, not the daily challenge. I was starved for bombs the whole game. It was the first time I successfully defeated Olmec (mostly) the "hard way", meaning that I let him crush the floor instead of digging a hole for him with bombs. I did use three bombs for some precision mining to make sure I could reach the entrance to Hell. I found that it's not a bad idea at all if you can just keep a cool head. I had the Kapala, so I could farm the enemies Olmec spawns for some blood and extra HP. I entered hell with a single bomb in my pocket. I held on to it as my most precious tool, but had to use it to clear an easier path instead of taking the almost certainly fatal natural path. So I entered the final level with zero bombs. Luckily I could kill those guys without much trouble, got some bombs and made my way to victory. There were some butt-clenching moments with a magma man, a vampire and a unexpected falling skull, but I ended up victorious.

There's a new alpha available. Considering the recent discussion about the game, I imagine the added feature is nothing short of a volatile topic: Armed guards. Prettttty brutal...

Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

It took 200 deaths, 8 normal victories and about 45 hours, but... I freaking finally beat Hell. And it was in today's daily as well! Today's daily was really a crate bonanza. It was possibly the most optimal seed I've ever seen. The first crate was climbing gloves, I got over 60k gold before reaching the Black Market, there's the alien level in the ice caves, where I could swap my cape for the jetpack and there was a gun shop right next to the entrance to the Golden City. Plus, the Hell levels were pretty easy. In one of them, a single bomb would open a practically straight path from the entrance to the exit. I am elated. -

Damn, made it to Yama for the second time ever in today's daily. I had five hitpoints before entering Hell, but only one when reaching the final level. There were some monumental butt-clenches, getting hit by vampires and whatnot. I got him to his final stage, this time knowing that the falling projectiles don't stop even after you destroy his hands. But, I just couldn't hit him with my bombs, and eventually I took that one final point of damage. -
How I personally interpreted it, without thinking too much about it, was that the game took place in a semi-fictional "movie prison". I never thought that dollars and the orange jumpsuits implied it was specifically set in real life United States. Furthermore, the backer submitted biographies for the prisoners further push the world towards a fictional and somewhat insane reality. Still, I find most of the criticism to be interesting, and the reply from the developers to be really good. I do hope the result of this dialog is a better finished Prison Architect.

Cool beans, that HUD looks good. However, I think having a timer will have a much bigger impact (for me at least) than someone might initially think. I can just see it now: "Okay, there's 20 seconds before the ghost shows up. Do I go back up and try to sacrifice this corpse? ... I'll do it!" And then, in a hurry and half-panic, I'll carelessly run into a tiki trap or some spikes. I kind of like measuring the time by my gut (like americans with their imperial measurement system, HAH!) and by trying to keep track on how the music loops. I'll probably disable the timer if that's possible.

I think I'm going to have a no-Spelunky weekend. I'm starting to experience these weird, unusual damages I can't even tell where they're coming from (i.e. I'm going crazy). Today I died in the daily by whipping a boomeran tiki guy from behind. A few days ago I fell into the abyss with my Hedjet and jetpack after being stunned from damage I took when I stomped on a frozen enemy in a 1-tile-tall tunnel. That happened another time as well, without as fatal consequences. A mantrap, which I was sure was supposed to be stuck in some webs was moving around and ate me. I made it to Yama once, and died an honest death due to ignorance (I've explained it earlier). Since then it's been harder and harder to even reach the Temple. I think at least a few days break will do me good, and let the stirring insanity inside me calm down a bit. -

Man, things were going so well in today's daily, until I reached the Temple. I had all the artifacts needed to enter the City of Gold, save for the sceptre. I didn't have a weapon nor sticky bombs (such a mistake, there was even a spider level in the mines). I tried dropping a bomb, picking it up and having it detonate next to Anubis in mid-air, but that wasn't working and I was going to kill myself sooner or later. So I crushed him with one of those moving blocks. Obviously the sceptre was destroyed as well. Not a complete surprise, but I was hoping for better. But I did beat Olmec, and got a pretty good score. -

Flipping hell (no pun intended), made it all the way to Yama in today's daily. Didn't beat him though. I wrongly assumed that the skulls would stop falling after I destroyed his hands. I had tons of health, so I probably would've been fine, if it wasn't for that one set of spikes... But now I know the name of the game, so it's just a matter of time now. Yama, I'm coming for you, motherfucker. -

Oh goddamnit! I thought the entrance would appear above him. Well anyways, it was the first time ever I reached the City of Gold. Made my way through it, got the book, beat the guardian (I'm especially satisfied how I didn't panic and even managed to kill him). And this was in today's daily, so I was sweating like a nun at a cucumber farm during the dark temple level. -
My demise was once brought about by one of those harmless, tiny frogs in the jungle. I was just going to quickly jump next to and over a half-buried tiki trap. However, a tiny frog jumped in front of the trap a critical half second before I started my jump, so I was right next to the trap as the spikes stabbed out.

Yay, beat Olmec again today. That's the third time I've done it in a daily and the fourth one in total. I think it's time to move on and try to play the special levels and/or try to reach Hell. Until now my first priority has mainly been to just beat the basic game. Today was the first time I got a hold of the sceptre and managed to not kill myself with it. I also thought it was the only thing needed to open the door to the Golden City, but boy was I wrong. -

I have sold enough of those dumb Steam cards to buy a 2,5€ game. I'm torn between GTA: San Andreas and Flotilla. GTA because I haven't played GTA games very much, and I hear San Andreas is one of (if not the) best. Flotilla because space, and the Idle Thumbs praise it got back in the day. I doubt I'll have anyone to play it cooperatively (as I understand it's only local coop).

I beat Olmec in a daily again today. I did so badly at the beginning, taking damage from bats and simple spiders. I almost got caught by the ghost in the dark level, and I ended up searching for the exit in the dark while carrying the damsel. Then I just kept gaining momentum, found a bunch of bombs and wrecked Olmec with great confidence. Also, I went to the mothership (in a regular game) yesterday. It was my second time ever, and boy does it get crazy as shit in there. -
I, too, love Flatout UC. The thing that bothers me most is the un-evenness of the opponents. Usually there's one or two opponents who actually pose a challenge, and the others are there just for show (and the wreck pile at the start). And it seems that the performance of the challenging opponents increases based on your car and its upgrades. So buying a better car and upgrading it actually makes it harder to win. And what you said about upgrading and screwing up the handling of the car is also true, but eventually you learn to do it properly and stick to front wheel drive cars

I beat the game a second time, this time in the daily! Looks like beating the game was exactly what I needed. Yesterday, at the beginning of the game that I ended up winning, I thought to myself, "Maybe I shouldn't play for a few days, because I just seem to be getting worse". Then I beat the game literally twice in a row without dying (although there was about 30 hours between the games ). And today, I wasn't sweating like a gimp in a sauna during the boss battle. I guess now I should set my sights for Hell, and that weird spaceship level that appears in the ice caves. I've been to the latter one once, but I killed myself literally within 15 seconds. -
Another update, v. 0.23 is now available! I wasn't even expecting for it to come out. I haven't been playing KSP in a while, due to being busy and most of my gaming time being occupied by Spelunky. As I have some moderately urgent stuff to take care of, here's a condensed list of the interesting updates: Science overhaul! You're no longer able to max out an experiment by repeating it and transmitting it over and over again. From what I understand, the science equipment is more like single-use now, but not exactly. There's also a science lab module, which increases the science transmit efficiency and can use to reset your single-use equipment. Also, you can see in the science facility all the scientific experiments you're performed (to better keep a track of them, I suppose). Tweakables! You can tweak parts in the Vehicle Assembly Building / Space Plane Hangar. So for example, you can have your lander legs be extended by default. Freaking finally! New engine! A new engine, R.A.P.I.E.R. or 'Reactive Alternate-Propellant Intelligent Engine for Rockets', that can use both intake air as well as internal oxidizer to burn.

I've been doing super badly in recent dailies, and today was no different. I just took a ton of unnecessary damage, and actually straight up died to a bat (so didn't get pushed into spikes or anything). Yesterday I scored a whooping $0 points. I could and would swear that I paused the game, that I even heard the 'beep-boop' of the diary opening. I stepped away for more than two and a half minutes, I come back and I've been killed by the ghost. But, in a regular game from start to finish, I beat Olmec today! Hooray! I don't know if it considered cheap to bomb a hole in the ground and just lure the big dumb head there, but that's how I did it. 129 deaths, 1 victory, with 19 hours played according to Steam. -

Did the special music in the last mine level in yesterday's (12th) daily mean something special?
