What happened in Northern Ireland with the Good Friday Agreement was both sides agreed to put to the back of their mind all that occurred between them and not to bring the murderers on both sides to justice to stop further murder. South Africa did something similar with it's truth and reconciliation movement as a way of exposing what happened under apartheid without planting the seeds for further violence by bringing those who were involved in running of the that system to justice. It also brings up the interesting dividing line between change by small, piecemeal steps over a long period of time and change through large scale social revolution in a short period. The latter has a strong kinda emotional appeal except it has a pretty poor track record compared the former approach which can only really be appreciated looking back over 100's of years of history.

Look to the Windward is definitely a book whose enjoyment of is dependent on having read a few of the culture novels. Abigail nussbaum has reviewed the entire series and is definitely worth reading. Her aside about the importance of excesion to understanding the series as a whole is very interesting.

As someone in the comments said this had a better storyline than Summerslam with Dan as the heel, Drew as the underdog face and Jeff as the cynic who's too old for this shit. And just like any good wrestling show the crowd really adds to it. I can't wait for 6 after how this ended and am currently two hours into the first one which like 6 makes for really good background tv while reading.

China has changed alot. Forsekinn( a caster covering China) did an AMA on twitter last week worth reading to get an idea of what is going on in China.
