From what I remember, Johnny Simmons had never played a Zelda game before, and Edgar Wright was all, 'well time to fix that', so the actor was playing the game between takes as well. Edgar Wright is one of the most meticulous filmmakers currently making movies. I'd love to see him do a Hong Kong action film or something.

That's not how it works, my brother used up his medical good karma long ago and then someone coward punched him seven minutes from death.

It's pretentious but not twee! Like, I'm not getting Wes Anderson vibes from that trailer at all.

I've told this story before, but I've done a similar thing with GTA3 and jacking cop cars. It's why I was always a little leery of the anti-Jack Thompson arguments that games don't affect people AT ALL they're COMPLETELY UNABLE TO PROVOKE A RESPONSE IN THE BRAIN YOU MORON because everything everywhere does, and we bring that back with us. So it's interesting that today two of the biggest department store chains in Australia have withdrawn GTAV from sale following a petition decrying its terrible depictions of women. Kmart and Target aren't quite as trashy in Australia as they are in America.

Yeah, when I hear that from him I think that he doesn't understand how in a just universe Maddy Myers would be there instead. I once read an interview with Maddy Myers purely because the photo of her at the top was so interesting. Look at that photo. That is a photo of someone who is loving life.

I do kind of like the idea that Sith build custom, somewhat unnecessary lightsabers because of their need to feel special.

Australia does have a myth of social mobility, but there's a broad expectation that you're probably middle class unless you're a "battler" (a positive descriptor, and probably the one good thing current affairs shows have given us) and the rich are tall poppies and are suspect.

It's Steam, you think they've thought for one minute about how their community will abuse their new feature? -

A friend of mine does streaming and he talks to people by name and responds to them in chat, which feels like the way to do it. See, my problem is I expect no-one to watch. -
I hold: November. Any time in December, you can put up the tree. Except at my parents', where you have to wait until after Mum's birthday.

I think it's particularly hard for America to get competent government employees because one of America's founding myths is that the government can't be trusted. What kind of American joins an organisation which their culture suspects can't be trusted? That is not to say that there aren't incompetent people in government in every country on Earth, of course. Sometimes they become prime minister and embarrass your country on the world stage.... sigh.

...what did they do with the organic Chris? -
I suspect the only point of the list is as a rhetorical point, one that's not particularly effective because most everyone treats it as a badge of honour and a good first step and not their voice taken away.

I've read an argument that a lot of the problems with Into Darkness mirror the problems with 9/11 conspiracy theories, which Robert Orci sincerely believes in. There's a big Save the Cat! influence as well.

Oh, I see, it's Americans being dumb. I don't know if there's any advantage in electing the DA because the electorate isn't in a good position to decide whether the DA needs to be replaced.

Can't you just fire the prosecutors for incompetence though?

well done Doug, you can get on the list by following more of Gamergate's victims!

So I finished Steamworld Dig. It's a quite clever mining game - you go down a shaft, mining and collecting resources, but you're also making paths to get back up so if you don't think carefully about how you're mining, you can make it so that you can't mine in the direction you wanted, and potentially not be able to get back up. There's some light puzzle solving and gear gating, more as spice than anything, I think - I don't know if I needed two separate systems for acquiring new abilities.

Yeah, I think this is worth pointing out. Abrams' sensibilities are more along the lines of popcorn entertainment, and with better writers his movies aren't bad. It doesn't look like he's playing Mystery Box games with this either- it's Star Wars so he doesn't need to entice people - which hopefully means it'll have a decent plot that tells a single, solid story.

Numenera really isn't a system where players trade blows, so little chance of that happening.

Thanks for playing, guys. Was that time and duration suitable for you all? Should we make adjustments?

Oh, that's where I saw it. I'm sorry.
