  1. Just had a match where I was getting shot at while driving a boat. Made a too-sharp turn and beached it. Hid behind the boat for cover, and my antagonist comes racing at me unloading a shotgun. I also had a shotgun, so we strafed and shot and hid around the boat for a while. Eventually, I got the idea to throw a grenade. It landed too far behind him, but he didn't know that. He came around the right side, hoping to take cover from the shrapnel, and I blasted him with my S12K. Felt pretty clever about that.

  2. Just had the best match.

Coming down a hill, I hear gunfire to my right. I investigate. Crest a ridge, and there's a jeep coming right at me up the hill. I pull out my S12K and put a round in the driver's side. Not dead, the dude swerves around me and goes down another part of the hill. Slows, stops. I run up, about to blast him as he comes out of the driver's side, but I guess he realized what I was doing because he speeds off again.

Then, there are shots peppering the dirt around my feet, coming from roughly behind me. I hoof it over to a tree and take a look. There's another guy who I guess was chasing the jeep guy, except this guy's got a dune buggy that he's hiding behind, shooting at me. I return fire with a SCAR-L, hit a couple of times, the buggy starts rolling down the hill. He runs to another tree, and I'm not letting up.

He pops from the left, I shoot left. He goes right, I shoot right. Goes on for a little while. My heart, pounding, is in my throat. I'm half worrying that jeep guy is going to come back and run me over while I'm dealing with this long range firefight. Then, calm as anything, buggy guy steps out and puts one bullet between my eyes.

I jumped out of my seat. I wanted to high-five him. I spent a clip and a half playing whack-a-mole with this guy and he goes and pulls a Deer Hunter?

Ugh. This game is good. How am I going to sleep now?

  3. I think one thing Nick sorta glossed over was the chat empathy. Yeah they talk shit sometimes, but we were all where he was at one point. Most of us stayed up waaaaaaaayyyy too late to beat that boss and failed and woke up and did it the next day or the day after. It was hard to watch but it was also super gratifying to be there with somebody who went through the same stupid bullshit I did. I said it during the stream, but I want to repeat here that watching Nick's Dark Souls streams has been one of the highlights of the year for me. Really, really appreciate them.

Disheartening that so many people have switched off from such an important election.

Also a weird thought is that apparently it didn't matter that Trump had the lousiest, most slapdash train wreck of a campaign ever. He screwed up wherever he could, the tv debates were embarrassing to watch and he insulted so many groups of people. And yet, none of it mattered. No matter how many millions Clinton spent on ground work and solid campaigning. It makes me think this was perhaps inevitable. Maybe people just vote for someone's face, their meat and bones and its strange seduction, after all, and all the stuff around it is superfluous. Maybe America just needed an orange face right now.

I think the takeaway is that the math is different for Democrats. Repubs can run anyone and they'll win because their people show up. Dems need Rockstars if we expect people in Ohio and Florida to get out of the house on Nov 8. Right now it's all about 2018, but in 2020 we need to run Beyonce or Bruce Springsteen.

  5. Okay this sucks.

But don't give in to despair. We can figure this out. Just need to process it first. Most importantly, we need to support our women and LGBT and african-american and immigrant and minority friends as much and as frequently as possible. Create inclusive spaces and art. Practice empathy.

Then go out in 2018 and vote.

  6. Got the PSVR, had my girlfriend over to try it, we had a blast. That saloon game in Playroom is fun as hell. I'm personally really into Driveclub VR though. The lighting effects while driving at night are incredibly immersive.

  7. Update today added better descriptions and more varied areas. Also changed RNG on monster and item generation so good things can pop up earlier in the game.

I died at level 6 to some giant fly looking thing with a staff and a sword. Got some sweet new tunic colors though.

Gotta say, I wish the levels were a little shorter. Running through the swamp becomes tedious pretty quickly.
