  1. Just watched Ep. 4 and I don't know what to say. I'm out of breath. I feel like I need to walk it off or something. Fuck.
  2. I like this episode because it sets up all the conflicts we've been hearing about in the show. It feels therapeutic to see the characters address their personal issues somewhat head-on, something we often can't do in life. I liked the apoplectic bit. Sort of a wink and a nod from the writer("hey this is a writer's show"), but I can also imagine it as two self-important assholes each thinking they're clever for using a word.
  3. Dude. I don't think being married to the subject of Pulp's Common People is something I would brag about.
  4. Alien 3 has long been my favorite and its nice to finally hear someone not talk about it disparagingly. As mentioned above, the Assembly Cut is the best version and probably one of my top 5 favorite films. Pete Postlethwaite rules.
  5. Idle Thumbs 169: On Blade

Watched this again last night. Still great. Grant Mazzy's facial expressions are priceless. Died laughing at "NIGEL HEALING SAYS 'APPARENTLY'?!?!?!"
  6. I think I'm with DarthEnderX on this one. It's not the responsibility of a work to be construed properly, and it isn't the artist's fault if an audience lacks empathy. I think with comedy this is especially important, because getting the joke is half the fun. If an audience thinks that the end of the joke is when a comedian recites a slur, that's laziness on the audience's part.
  7. This is a great episode! Glad to have Danielle back. Double whammy for you: "Shit just got real." Bad referential humor + dead to language. I move to strike it from the lexicon. All in favor?
  8. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I've been thinking about trying DS1 with a light-armor, dual-handed longsword warrior while waiting for PC version of DS2. Seems like maybe a way to get faster hits than a greatsword, but dodging would be essential. Tough in areas like New Londo Ruins. Any recommendations?
  9. Saturday Morning Streams

It continually blows my mind that they live in San Francisco and drink PBR and Miller Lite. I guess the CBS budget doesn't account for beer.
  10. Batman Origins

Really like this game. Feels like a 90's Burton Batman. Challenges add depth, not just achievement grinding. Voice acting is superb. Might have said that I would like better writing and characters, but its the third game in a franchise that never set a high bar for that sort of thing.
  11. Fresh Indie Game Compendium Extraordinaire

Bubsy3D: Bubsy Visits the James Turrell Retrospective http://bubsy3d.com/ Jake posted this on Twitter, and it made my day.
  12. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Someone better start talking or the cyberpunk gets it.
  13. Spelunky!

Finally beat Olmec for the first time yesterday on my Vita. Don't think I'll go for Yama. Funny how I used to balk at the idea of killing a shopkeeper and now black market massacre is part of my every run.
  14. Spelunky!

    clap.gif A splendid work.
  15. PS Vita

I've been playing Muramasa Rebirth. It's like Megaman with mascara and ninjas.
  16. Ending sounds like the jingle for some instructional/training video. Love it.
  17. I picture him standing up, palms pressed against the desk, desperate for the audience to accept his declaration.
  18. The Errant Signal guy nailed it. The previous Shocks created a ludic language that Infinite blithely ignores, seemingly for the sake of a dog and pony show. That dog and pony and the Shyamalan-esque plot remind me particularly of Spec Ops The Line, which I think we all quietly agreed was only just barely worth a discussion. Top of page edit: I'm really glad Nick is back. Sucks he couldn't make it to episode 100.
  19. I'm with Greg Brown on this one -- the Shocks seem to have stalled out for me after SS2. I feel like I'm being beaten over the head with story beats and character quirks. I also agree with Jon Blow's assertions on Twitter that the shield mechanic is useless and/or disingenuous design(I'm summarizing). Regardless, I was grinning all the way through this episode. Jake's anecdotes continue to amaze and inspire.
  20. Teleglitch

    Doomelunky. Love it.
  21. PS Vita

Increase your backlog by 200+, instantly. Seriously. So many games. I end up buying something every Tuesday and its hard enough staying caught up on the PC. It's also great to have something to watch Netflix on while laying in bed.
  22. PC Help

Aye, mine had a similar problem, and the positioning diagram wasn't even in the manual! It was printed on a piece of folded paper that came in the same box. Turns out I had to put my RAM in slots B1 and D2. What the hell, ASUS?
  23. Why can't I enjoy System Shock 2?

Glory to the flesh. Glory to the mass.
  24. I think Sean should bookend every cast with "This is gonna be a good one/I hate this fucking podcast."
