Is there a way to delete trading cards on Steam?

Recommended Posts

I just looked at the trading forum for Broken Age on Steam and saw that someone wanted the Broken Age trading cards. I thought "what the heck, I just give them away for free, I want to get rid of this shit anyway", but then I remembered Sean's story about this one guy, the mover in the song singing / dick sucking / item trading community, who wanted an item from him. So I wondered: can I just delete/destroy the trading cards? I would rather like to do that than get rid of them by giving them to someone else. Because I'm not sure I actually want to be involved in this shit.

Just sell them in the market.  You don't have to interact with anyone and you'll get $0.07 to $0.30 per card depending on what game it is from.

The greatest thing Steam has ever given me has been the joy of selling non-existent things to crazy nerds.

Who ever thought you'd be in profit during a Steam sale?

I have to admit, as dumb as the whole cards thing is the market itself is incredibly painless.  If you really don't care at all you can even list them for an absurd amount and they'll just stay on the market but won't show up in your inventory.

Just sell all your cards, I have purchased a few games with money made from selling cards.

I think someone on this very forum recently mentioned something about a trashbot on steam that automatically accepts any trades you send it, so you can just dump junk in there.

I hate this shit SO MUCH. It's not inconvenient, it just pisses me off so fucking much, I don't know why. I get so mad when I get a goddamn inventory notification, whenever the robot decides to leave a paper bag of shit on my doorstep.

It only shows up when you close the game, you could just ignore it.

Most steam trading I've seen is just selling or buying sub 10 cent items on the steam market. Of which Valve takes 30% but whatever.

10%. And the devs of the game also get 10%.

I'd suggest sell everything. I've been buying cards for the art and then the art is still there after I throw the cards back on the marketplace. So really you can never get rid of the "badges" or whatever once you have started. They will always be in that area of your steam account.

It's a really idiotic thing because I would feel so much better if this cash were going to the developer in a significant amount for the transaction but it's user based. I guess that's why we have this stupid marketplace booming with terrible prices for certain items in the first place though.

Does anyone know a way to cancel an expired trade notification? A friend wanted to trade some summer sale cards, for whatever reason when I pressed accept it wouldn't work, and then he canceled and did another trade. But the first trade didn't leave my notification bar. So an expired trade is sitting there every time I check the bar, and I can't do anything to cancel or remove it as far as I know.

Ask your friend (or somebody else) to start a trade, and then cancel it. That's the only way to get rid of it. You don't have to actually trade.

We're talking pennies and dimes here, but as you collect all the cards, and complete badges, you gain Steam XP, no Dew enable doubler yet, and the higher your Steam Level the more frequent gift of free card packs, which could then be sold. The Steam rich get richer!

The higher drop rate of booster packs ends up really not being that useful once you have enough games eligible for packs.  You're capped at one pack per week, and on my account I get one almost every single week.  My wife's account only has a few games that are eligible, and she might get a pack once or twice a month.

Wow, I am Level 14, which is 13 levels higher than I thought I'd be.  I have received a booster pack only once in 2+ years, going from level 1 to 2.

This is fascinating because I have not gotten a pack once despite having six games eligible for booster packs. I see the system as 'buy an expanded friends list, except you have to match cards instead of just buying a friends list expansion. Here, play a game for two hours and we'll give you a start!'

The system would make more sense if players actually had any chance of getting booster packs even if they didn't buy cards, but that has not been my experience and considering you apparently get more with a higher Steam level, I can't see how that would ever happen. I think I'd also be happier if you still had to play the game to get cards, and the booster packs just filled in drops you would have gotten. The badges don't correspond to the games you actually like at all. You know what, I just don't like the card system and I resent Steam's monopoly on PC gaming and I'm tired so I'm going to stop nitpicking.
