Idle Thumbs 93: Babywall the Horse Armor

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty confident nobody made any claim to that effect; only that Mario is an actual human being, and human beings tend to more generally relate to other human beings rather than crazy made-up things. I don't think anyone said Mario is any kind of theoretical ideal.

But Mario is the theoretical ideal.

Oh sorry, I didn't mean on the podcast as I was more referring to this thread in general, as I thought someone in this thread had called his design perfect. I guess no one actually did. Oops.

Anyway though in reference to the podcast, my big dumb wall of text just pretty much said everything you guys said on the podcast about character appeal has some factor in appeal, fundamentally and ubiquity. Baby heads and monies.

I'm binging on old idle thumbs episodes and just listened to this one and I'm really curious as to how 'babywalling' seems to have fell off as a persistent injoke in the idle thumbs canon, as opposed to the persistence of stuff like baboo, bird noise, the wizard, Congrats Nick, etc.  Babywalling should have had more legs than it did.

It gets used at work!

After posting my comment I googled and discovered that babywalling is not specific to Idle Thumbs, I only thought it was because this was my first exposure to the term, as I'm not a Sims player.  So it makes sense that it wouldn't have been incorporated into the lexicon.

Oh yeah what happened is "babygate" (to put invisible walls around the edges of the navigable world) started being referred to as "babywall" (to wall an NPC into a room and watch them die). That drift happened somewhat invisibly at some point and was initially confusing, but eventually not confusing (because I generally forgot about walling NPCs into rooms).
