Cai Posted September 17, 2012 This is hung on the wall in the postgraduate common room of my university. On seeing it I instantly heard Chris's voice "U-U-U-ULTRABOOST".
subbes Posted September 17, 2012 Oh, hey, my Dad went to uni in Bath.
Cai Posted September 17, 2012 Hey, cool There's a couple of unis here, one arts, one science. I'm currently doing a phd at the science one on "game semantics" (nothing to do with video games, sadly).
Laxan Posted September 18, 2012 "Game semantics" is a pretty good description of Idle Thumbs in general.
Sententia Posted September 18, 2012 Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get a sound file of the UltraBoost bumper and attach it to a speaker with a button you can press next to the picture.
Cai Posted September 18, 2012 That is the best god damn idea. I have minimal engineering skills, but I'll see what I can do.
subbes Posted September 18, 2012 If you're at the science one, no doubt there'll be an Aussie Engi along you can get drunk and convince to do it for you. P.S. My dad did, um, microbiology, I think. I'd ask him, but he lost all his words in 2010 due to a degenerative disease. I have fond memories of Bath myself, having stayed there with JN one summer. I recall the goth night at Moles was pretty good.
Cai Posted September 27, 2012 Ok, so I didn't manage to make a button-operated sound box happen (plus I reckon it'd have been removed pretty quick) but I did at least make this little addition:
Yasawas Posted September 27, 2012 Excellent work sir. I have still never seen anyone scan a QR code in the wild.
Cai Posted September 27, 2012 I have still never seen anyone scan a QR code in the wild. That is 100% true. Me scanning this to test that it worked is the first QR code I've ever scanned.

elmuerte Posted September 28, 2012 is it just me, or is that QR code added by somebody else? You should replace it with this QR code:
