Mmmmmmmmmmmmaybe.  My birthday is the 29th and it's going to be a milestone (i.e. it ends with a zero).

I can bring stroopwafels, drop and hagelslag as a birthday present! I'm also capable of baking some oliebollen and/or appelflappen if you want :)

Fun fact: My local "community supermarket" New Leaf (in Half Moon Bay) sells Stroopwafels. They are both delicious and over-priced.

Appelflap is a apple filled oliebol.

Hagelslag is allowed on airplanes again?

Was it ever banned?

I knew stroopwaffel (and the "sprinkles on toast" concept) but those flaps seem intriguing.

No, that's a Appelbeignet. An Appelflap is this:

For the record if people were to get something happening I would be down to drive up from San Jose and do whatever sort of thing people do when not interacting via the internet.

I am going to be in San Fransisco or somewhere nearby as well, for a week at the end of July. I'm going to a conference in Santa Clara on the very last days of July, but decided to have a week off there before that. So I'll arrive on July 20th I think and then I have no idea what I'm going to do during the week (suggestions welcome). Would be nice to meet some fellow thumbs.

I have found a decent place to stay in the Castro neighborhood! Now all I need to do is rent a car, find some places to see & visit on my trip down route 1 to los angeles and las vegas. Oh and figure out a nice route back. And also figure out where to stay when I get back to SF after my road trip (before I fly back)

Good plans!  Do you need a rental car, or are you a Zipcar member?

Let's arrange a thing!  My boss lives in Russian Hill now so that's where I end up when I work in the city, but I bet I can manage to make it to Market Street etc, because buses.  After 3 months of learning, I now very rarely end up lost in Little Saigon due to bus mishaps.

Remember to avoid the Tenderloin, because it's super-sketch even though it's right next to Union Square.
