Dontwalk Posted February 6, 2013 I am confused by your two mice. What gives?Short version: RSI problems. Rather than just buying a left-handed mouse, switching between hands throughout the day is less repetitive action. Finding a mouse that was a good fit for my hands helped a lot too - I was lucky that it also came in a left-handed version. And other people basically find it impossible to use the PC with a left-handed mouse, though they don’t like my keyboard much either…

James Posted February 6, 2013 I was hoping it was just the fruit of a slavish dedication to symmetry. EDIT: That was I reference to the two-mouse thing, not the unusual keyboard thing.

Dontwalk Posted February 6, 2013 (edited) what a weird keyboard, the ctrl is goneIt’s a “Happy Hacking Keyboard” (not my photo, but one which shows the layout) and once you learn the layout, it doesn’t require you to move your hands away from the home position at all, unlike regular keyboards. Losing the number pad at the side lets you bring the mouse in closer, which helps reduce arm movements further. The reason I went with the blank keys was to force me to learn to touch-type properly (many people think they can touch-type, until there are no letters to glance at) and it lets me try and learn an alternative layout to QWERTY, to further try and reduce RSI. I was hoping it was just the fruit of a slavish dedication to symmetry.I actually wish it was slightly more symmetrical by having a second Fn key on the left. The ◇ key functions can be changed by flipping some DIP switches on the back of the keyboard though, so the left “windows/command” key acts as a second Fn key the way I have things set up.btw, I like the awesome "heater" case mod I actually keep the tower in another room and run HDMI through the walls. If it were not for the noise, it would make a lot more sense to keep it in here to heat the room up a bit. But then I would hate it in the summer… Nice setup, Dontwalk! Even nicer wallpaper (the green one). Care to share? Thanks. Unfortunately, I just had the Samsara Blu-ray playing while I was taking photos, so it’s not really a wallpaper, and the camera boosted the colors a bit. Here’s the image if you want it though: Is that a Strategy Towel Pro folded up on the left there?Huh?EDIT: To maybe save some further questions: Chair: Herman Miller Embody in white (no, I don’t recommend it, especially not in white - it looked better in my last place) Keyboard system: Humanscale 6G Keyboard: Happy Hacking Keyboard Type-S Mice: Razer DeathAdder 2013, Razer DeathAdder Left Hand Edition Headphones: Sony MDR-7520 (yes, I disconnected the cord for the photo) Controller: Wireless Xbox 360 controller for PC Mystery object: Fujitsu ScanSnap S1100 Television: Sony KDL-46HX900 PC Case: SilverStone FT02 Edited February 6, 2013 by Dontwalk

tegan Posted April 23, 2013 Idle Thumbs Cords Management Consortium: My TV stand has these little clips on the back meant for cord management, but of course they're not nearly substantial enough to handle all my cords, so I used them to clip a paper towel roll onto the back of the stand and used it to approximately center everything behind the TV. There's some other shenanigans at work too. It doesn't look so good from the back, but whatever. Compare with the last time I posted in this thread.

Justin Leego Posted April 23, 2013 Is that a Strategy Towel Pro folded up on the left there? Huh? A Strategy Towel, aka poor attempt at a Strategy Chocolate Gamer Goods® reference Perhaps more likely the back of a well-designed chair and hence unrecognizable by such as myself. tegan Posted April 23, 2013 damn the xbox is huge. It is so huge! When I bought it off my friend, he had both the original "hamburger" controller and a Mad Catz controller made around the time the console launched, so it's somehow even larger. I had to pay more than double what I paid for the console to get one of the small controllers. Curse my dainty fingers. But yeah, I'm trying to reorganize everything right now. I want to get some new furniture when I have the money, too. Next order of business is to get that phone off the side of the TV stand. I've been thinking of getting one of these and setting it off to one side, but I dunno. I deally I'd like the phone in a different part of the room entirely, but the cord won't really allow that. ...Actually, I think I have a phone jack in my bedroom. I should try that. I'm also going to try to manage the cables for my desk. They're pretty bad.

tegan Posted April 23, 2013 Luckily, I just happened to have everything hooked up, because I`m moving a bunch of folders around! They really need new names. The Monolith is a featureless glossy black Seagate external harddrive that always sits on top of my computer. Yoko is an old Seagate model I use for backup and usually keep in storage. I named it back in high school. My laptop at the time was named Kamina and my mp3 player at the time was Simon. The Monolith is currently videos only, while Yoko is a backup for various music, installers, original scans and PSDs of my artwork, porn, and other odds and ends. I`m going to eventually get a LaCie LaCinema and copy the contents of The Monolith into it so I'll have an ideal media center to replace the Western Digital box I'm using now. TheLastBaron Posted April 23, 2013 I could probably save a lot of space by installing fewer games on Steam, I think my steam folder is close to 400 or 500 gigs, and it's only maybe half of my games or 2/3's, but I install basically any game that I feel I might play at some time.
