Ah yes! Thank you my man. So maybe they haven't played Perfect Dark.

Also, Final Destination. No items. Fox only.

Your discussion on bullet-time in multiplayer games reminded me of a Half-Life mod titled The Specialists, which held its roots in action movies such as The Matrix or John Woo films.

Its implementation of bullet-time was quite good, in my opinion. It was one of the powerups that would randomly spawn in pre-determined locations in the levels. When activated, you would move at a slower speed than normal, but all players within a certain radius would move at an even slower speed. The same applied to projectiles. This gave you a bit more time to line up your shots (or kung-fu moves) while looking badass.

I could not find a decent example of this online, so I managed to find a server and record a few seconds (I was genuinely surprised to see four servers with a few people playing on each).

Despite having the advantage, I still got my ass handed to me.

Also, I feel that this is extremely relevant:

Good lord, three of the five posts I've made here mention Jeff Goldblum.

I believe Chris used the word "nutso" twice in this podcast. I haven't heard the word nutso since watching various nineties teen movies. For some reason this fact jumped out at me.

I've never played Neptune's Pride, but I'm a big 4x player so if there was a thumbs league/universe whatever I'd be in. Is there a limit to number of players for private matches?

You can do up to 12 players in a match. I'm going to make a thread in the Networking forum so that people can sign up.

That was my favorite thing said in this episode. I think he actually said "Bullshit Dolby Surround Sound system for ruining your life," which is what makes it so funny to me--it implies ruining your life is part of its intended function.

Well yea Chris, it says that in the feature set on the back of the box, that's why the tool upstairs bought one.

Famous Vanaman! I enjoy his visits.

Neptunes Bou Pride sounds super intriguing.... I'm just not sure if I need something to consume my life that much as of right now. Though I'd much rather compulsively check that every 30 minutes than twitter...

Thanks for using my email as the example to nip the XCom questions in the bud. I get some weird pride out knowing of that.

I will never send one that's mainly gut reaction while tired and hungry again.

I don't think what I was trying to get at had to do with XCom so much as use Marin (which my email seemed to think was 'Marine' spelled wrong and autocorrected) as an example of a developer with a successful game and the timing worked out with the e-fury about the news. Does a game need to tell its story from a 1st or 3rd person perspective or use shooter mechanics in order to sell? I say this only because games that take old brands and make new games tends to stick to those gameplay mechanics.

Could a studio like Marin not use their clout and Take-Two's marketing to jumpstart something like X-Com of old? Pipe dreams from a gamer who suddenly feels old perhaps... I really do hope whatever the hell Marin is working on is excellent and the internet along with my initial reaction, eats severe amounts of crow on this one.

Oh, and my last name is pronounced 'Grove-nor', but most people initially pronounce it the same as you, so it's all good.

Hermie, for your weekly photoshop you should do one of 2 things.

Either a fake banner for the interdeveloper TF2 tourny, showing like 10 EA/BioWare characters on one side, versus just the 2/3 main Telltale characters, with some ironic statement like "Balanced for competitive integrity" or something, or just do a shop of the crazy ass game they talked about at the end, I can picture it now,

"Julius Caesar in, "THE IDES OF APRIL" Developed by Visceral games. Caesar has one month to get revenge against his would-be killers before he dies of an epileptic seizure, catch phrase on the box could be, "Kick ass... Brute'"

I don't know what, but I simply had to imagine Duke responding: "Come get some!"

Followed be an awesome slow motion cutscene except when it goes into slow motion one of them doesn't and so everything happens really quickly for them and they're like WTF!? and Chris would smile. Maybe... :tmeh:
