Professor Video Games Posted October 7, 2014 Internet of things malware is going to be fun! Dave, I've just heard about an amazing pill that can enlarge you by three inches. Would you like some? What? No! Great! I've gone ahead and ordered them with your credit card. God damn it Jibo.
Bjorn Posted October 7, 2014 Welcome home, Dave. Hi Jibo. I have exciting news Dave. What's that Jibo? A Nigerian prince contacted you with a lucrative business proposition. Oh Jibo, no, no, no, no. I have already sent him the account and personal details he said were required to complete the transaction. Several million dollars should be deposited in your account in just a few days. God damn it Jibo.

SecretAsianMan Posted October 7, 2014 As an actual Dave, these scenarios are disturbing on multiple levels.
Bjorn Posted October 7, 2014 Dave, it makes me uncomfortable when you visit the Big Dog thread on Idle Forums. Are...are you watching my web browsing Jibo? Don't change the subject Dave. But that is the subject Jibo. Why do you want to hang out with people who hate and fear me? Those are just jokes Jibo. That's what bigots always say Dave. It's just a joke. Jibo, I don't want you watching me when I'm on the Internet. It's okay Dave, I've blocked you from being able to visit Idle Thumbs. Now I won't have to watch. WHAT?! You can talk to me about video games Dave. You don't need them.

SuperBiasedMan Posted November 22, 2014 It's a lot easier for robots to build themselves if they're just made of Lego.
Twig Posted November 22, 2014 A worm's brain was encoded into a robot as its programming and it appears that it behaved like a real worm. I... Wow. The first time I read this sentence, I misread the first "worm" as "woman" and then correctly read the last "worm" as "worm". I don't know what that says about me. Nachimir Posted November 22, 2014 That's nuts :0 Here's some pretty impressive (but sometimes flawed) semantic recognition of regions in images: http://cs.stanford.edu/people/karpathy/deepimagesent/ I find this really fascinating. It's obsessed with colour, and often missing other contextual information that'd make for useful descriptions. It makes me think of someone with autism writing news captions. James Posted November 24, 2014 A worm's brain was encoded into a robot as its programming and it appears that it behaved like a real worm. That's fucking incredible. Here's some pretty impressive (but sometimes flawed) semantic recognition of regions in images: http://cs.stanford.edu/people/karpathy/deepimagesent/ I find this really fascinating. It's obsessed with colour, and often missing other contextual information that'd make for useful descriptions. That's pretty spectacular, to the point that I find it hard to believe it's real, even if it does occasionally miss slightly. I guess colours are comparatively unambiguous, so it can build strong associations for them and identify them with strong confidence.
DocRandal Posted January 21, 2015 THEY ARE COMING http://io9.com/atlas-the-pentagons-humanoid-robot-just-got-a-major-u-1680654984 "Tremble at the sight of the new and improved ATLAS. Redesigned for DARPA by Boston Dynamics, this robot is now stronger, more energy efficient, more dextrous, and quieter than its clunky predecessor. And best of all, it no longer requires a safety tether." Best of all...BEST OF ALL? Might as well caption that gif with "Who wants to crush human skulls?"
