I made this video for an 'art games studies' class that I'm taking. It got a decent response so I thought I might as well share it here! I take some time explaining basic game concepts because a lot of people in that class aren't familiar with such things.

I thought YouTube stopped limiting the length of videos?

All those dumb fucking 10-hour videos seem to indicate that was the case.

I was lead cinematic artist for the episode of Walking Dead Season Two that just came out. It was my first time being in an official lead role on a game. It would be cool if people bought and played it and, ideally, didn't hate it.

Congrats!!!!  Wife and I scrambled into starting the second episode last night when we saw the third was releasing yesterday.  Some of the shots and framing so far have been spectacular.  Psyched to see your work!

I have purchased it, but like with the first season, will likely play it over the course of a week. One episode per weekday. That pretty much destroyed me last time, so why not replicate?

Me too, I loved playing through each episode in a single sitting and treating it like a TV miniseries, usually taking a day or two off in between episodes.

I love having a month or two between episodes.  Makes the "previously on" sections useful.  I played two episodes back-to-back within a few days in the first season, and I found the summation of something I just witnessed the day before to perform a strange "reduction" of the expansive space of each episode.  I like having a bit of time to live in the experience of each episode, let it fade from my immediate memory, then have it jogged through the highlight reel.  (I also play each episode over a week or two, usually in 20-30 minute chunks when my wife and I can find the time).

Oh right, I guess I should post this here too instead of just in the comics thread. I started a tumblr blog thing about comics.

This is not plugging my own shit, but one of my friends recently started a YouTube channel that you guys should check out. The name of the site is Fish Tuxedo (http://fishtuxedo.com http://youtube.com/fishtuxedo). Him and his partner do a video every weekday - short, 2-minute news on Monday/Friday, medium length, 10-minute features on Tuesday/Thursday, and long, 20-minute discussions on Wednesday about whatever strikes their fancies.

I think they're doing a good job so far and they could use all the support they can get. So liking, subscribing, whatever would all be helpful.

Hey I made an incredibly dumb twitter bot. After Darius Kazemi's work, I felt inspired to create do something myself. Follow https://twitter.com/WiseWrestlers to see a inspirational quote falsely attributed to a WWE wrestler once a day.

Haha. I like the concept, although it appears to be having technical issues.

I think the most recent picture was just a bizarre one that it pulled. I have it randomly pull one from bing search results, and I'm not smart enough to filter out which ones are "good", leading to the most recent kinda shitty post.

Oh, I think it changed from when I last saw it. The image just kept coming up broken, now it's some hotlinking thing. The potential for weirdness with this is almost as entertaining as the real joke.

So the Blink Bundle was your second biggest launch after Steam? That's pretty interesting. Is that based on volume or revenue structure or what?

I finished a song today that started out being about robots n bullshit but ended up being a really personal way of trying to acknowledge that shitty times don't last forever. I dunno, it probably still sounds like robots n bullshit. FFO: ambient/experimental/progressive/electronic stuff: https://soundcloud.com/jnewham/transitory

Also holy crap there's a bunch of sweet stuff in these past couple pages. Particularly like tegan's new tumblr so far! Comic books, you guys.

I accidentally read the song title as Transistor-y, I'm sorry.

It sounded really cool though, it was a fitting atmospheric track to make asteroid sprites to.

I wrote an article on how m'game did money-wise http://impromptugames.com/?p=483

Steam also does nothing to notify yes-voters that your game has been Greenlit

This probably surprised me the most! That seems like a huge flaw in the Greenlight system. Why leverage the community and then not notify them when their picks go through?

Your appeal to TPB pirates reminded me of when Caravel Games appealed to piracy rings to stop distributing the first commercial DROD release. The Pirate Bay told us to fuck off, but there was one group that thought it was pretty cool that our "free" "demo" contained the level editor and the ability to import fan-created levels without restriction and agreed to not distribute the paid version. Caravel initially did that because it was an open-source release that had content sold commercially bolted on, but we found that our free-to-play version had an unusual upside: cash-poor players could participate in the community and build levels and contribute, and they would save up and buy the game as an expression of belonging.

also fuck Abbott amirite

We just published a nice interview with a level designer on BioShock Infinite, once again it's mostly for development types:

Getting a nice little collection together now, already got two more in the works:
