Dantes Inferno trailer

Has any of you played Afterlife ?

Not exactly what you talked about but game in hell made me think of it :)

Actually Dan, I'd play your game :)

But to me, getting you lost in Hell no matter the genre is the best way to encourage "explore hell" which is in my opinion the essence of the original piece as brkl pined it, you just take exploring, discovering hell and you mix it with interactivity which is pretty much what the gaming essence is all about. Now you may think that you are addressing people that are as dumb as shit so you'd need to put a goal at the end, but fuck it "hey man, you died because you had too much fun and did not think about others, fuck you, go to hell" and you'd have to work your way out to kick Lucifer's butt is reason enough for me I guess, you could give me a selfish aim, and finally sacrifice me so I understand that selfishness drove me to hell and it won't get me out of there, but hey, that'd be the game's team work to figure out how you make someone go throught every single agonizing pain ever by himself.

Actually, the funny thing would be, you get to the end, and you go "hey Lucifer, give me my girl back" and he'd be

«Guess, what, I'm not god, he's the chooser I just torture people so he sent her here, that's his fault not mine... You got burned in hell» and you'd make the sequel to go kick some soft asses in heaven :)

That would be a photoshop of the infamous John Romero ad for Daikatana. Damn fine work, though.

The sole case of truth in advertising in our lifetimes.

So it's a teaser for a upcoming game trailer.

I feel ashame for all of mankind.

The last podcast touched on this, didn't it?

"Countdown for the next countdown, which may, or may not, be ... The Final Countdown™"

Is it more important than before to get people excited longer before the product is available, in order to get people to start saving up the cash, now with the financial situation...?

That was for the upcoming Kojima Productions project

It's nice to see they've acknowledged how much of an uphill battle they've set for themselves with this endeavour. I don't think any amount of smoke effect-filled CGI tosh is going to change many minds, though. :(

Hey, I got a good laugh out of it. That's probably all the entertainment I'm ever going to get from this product, so I'll take it.

Why did that giant monster's voice sound exactly like the Rainbow Squirt leader in Psychonauts? :erm:

Oh Dante. He wasn't even supposed to be here today. :shifty:

I'm really put off by the main character's design.

But hey most girls don't make lasagne for him they just fuck around and cheat on him. Of course he is going to hell for that.

I wonder if he'll ever get over her sucking 36 dicks though.

Agreed - he looks like a fairly average piece of 80s computer game box art, and not in a cool way either. :tmeh:

somehow... I imagine it would be quite funny to recut scenes from Clerks 1&2 and create a "Dante's Inferno". (in case you don't know, in Clerk 2 Dante open's the quick stop, err... door to hell, and everything is on fire)

Another great post on Twitter yesterday, this time from a friend of mine that runs a market stall selling second-hand games and DVDs.

I told him that's going to be next year's inevitable sequel to Dante's Inferno. :getmecoat

Hahahaha! I've seen some crazed looking tasks before on my list, but I got nothin' on that one. I'd love to be a fly in the wall in that animation meeting.

Wait, on second thought, the reference material would be horrifying, nevermind.

I agree with the consensus that this is a pretty ill-advised & cheesy concept from the get-go. And I especially hate the design of the protagonist as well. That said, it kind of looks like they're pushing the creature/world design towards Hieronymus Bosch and away from H.R. Giger - and if this ends up being the case, I will definitely have to play this fucking game.

I just watched this, and had an idea a transcript would be hilarious. Let me try:

You can be totally gratuitous and really silly and pornographic about it. You know, let's just hang a huge penis out there and call it a day. You can also make it kind of interesting, thoughtful and provocative. I probably have 200 pictures of intestines on my machine. Pictures of defecation, bodies cut in half.

Okay, never mind. But watch it, it's awesome.
