This has allowed Monday to slip in much more easily, even if it still didn't ask first (it never does):

I thought this one had been posted already? Regardless, I love Don Hertzfeldt. Have everything he's done on DVD by now. The Bitter Films collection, all 3 Animation Show releases, etc. Great stuff.

What I especially love about the second one that they pretty much acknowledge that movies are over-priced.

More topical terrifying fan-made equivalent of yiffing scat porn video goodness:

Fairly sure this had been linked to on Thumbs before, but never embedded in all it's glory.

That Star Wars/Macgyver thing was very well done, yet I felt something was missing. Took me a while to realize that it was, of course, the baffling ice cream scene.

Disturbing Strokes

That's the sort of thing we used to muck around with when I was studying film production at Uni.

That's easily the best example I've seen in a very long time, though. Brilliant, inspired stuff.

Less comical, more jaw-droppical:

I'd have given anything to ride that well when I was trials riding back in the 90s...

NB: The superb music is The Funeral by Band of Horses btw.

Fuck, that was incredible. I've never even considered a bike could do some of the shit in that video. Caught Band of Horses live this past weekend, and I agree. They are bloody awesome.

Watch this in hi-def, full screen. Pretty rad.

Also, a semantic observation: it seems "Youtube", as used in the title of this thread, has come to comfortably embody any kind of easily-accessible, flash-based online video. This is the first instance that I have consciously observed this. In marketing we would call it loss of brand control, what is this called more specifically, as pertaining to evolving language?

It's called becoming a household name. There may be a single verb or adjective which I cannot think of right now.

Other classic examples (from the UK at least): Hoover, Biro, Xerox, Photoshop.

Yeah, now that you mention it, this will also be the first instance I have observed this as well. I wonder if anything will come of this...

Good call!
