While I think Sach's granddaughter seems for all the world like the mother of all slags, I absolutely despise Brand and think he's the biggest cunt on TV. I heard the transcript of the call and it wasn't funny at all, it was in fact painfully unfunny and irritating.

Whether the girl is a slag or not, I don't think it warrants talking on national radio about having had sex with her as though it's funny. It is just a totally uncool thing to do.

The biggest problem I had with the whole thing is that they asked Sach or Sachs or whatever his name is, if it was okay to put out the show with that content and he said no. They put it out regardless. Brand apparently then proceeded to talk about it on other radio shows he was on. I'm trying and probably failing to be bias because I absolutely loathe Brand, but nonetheless it seems like he was just being a twatty, irritating little bully.

Anyway I hate Brand and his slaggy ex so I hope they both explode.

Agreed. They (both Ross - who was the main culprit - and Brand) were are on particularly poor form. I'm just disgusted that these people were banned. BANNED!!! Wtf is going on here?! A few years ago there was TV show that encouraged its participants to risk killing themselves for the viewers ("go on, hang yourself!"). That was an abomination of human nature. This... I still don't understand what's so bad about it.

I guess there's more politics at play. Really to me it just seemed ridiculous that this hit the BBC *World News* in times like these. People get offended every day whether they are famous or not and some people are total twats but I just don't think that qualifies as international news at all.

Also I didn't know who Russell Brand was (or Jonathan Ross for that matter) but he's was that guy in the latest line of Apatow romantic comedies, that I'm having a very hard time remembering the name of right now, although he wasn't putting on a character, he's really like that.

I subscribe to the radio show on iTunes. He has had some good co-hosts on there like Alan Carr for example, but when David Baddiel was on (and hogging the air waves talking about how famous he is ) I remember he brought up Satans Sluts in a suggestive way they both laughed over. Not as crass and unfunny as the prank call admittedly, and she wasn't named personally, but it's not like this is the first incident.

I'm not sure Baddiel is paid millions by the BBC though.

I don't think you're being biased. I listened to the calls on youtube and he sounded like a cross between a coke fiend and a kid desperate for attention. He was being a total cunt.

I would ":erm:", but grew up surrounded by people who think like that. It's pretty simple to have unshakable faith that the earth is prowled by demons, possessing people and loitering near "demonic" artifacts such as copies of D&D, The Poltergeist, Doom 2, old furniture that was once used by a fortune teller, etc.

Also fuckheaded. The more fundy types of Christian, such as Jehovah's Witnesses on your door, tend not to mention these kind of beliefs in everyday conversation, but they're a constant boiling undercurrent to everything said and done near them.
