DanJW Posted March 14, 2008 Just finished watching the third and last part of the Worlds of Fantasy BBC4 documentary. Part 1 dealt with the birth of fantasy literature from childrens fairy stories, with examples like Lewis Carrol. Part 2 charted LotR and Gormenghast to show how it became an adult genre. If you know anything about the history of fantasy writing, these programs will not teach you anything very much . Part 3 was a lot more fun. It followed fantasy into modern times, mainly through Terry Pratchett, but also has appearances by Neil Gaimen, Michael Moorcock, Guillermo Del Torro and others. It also spends a decent segement looking at fantasy computer games, including WoW. It takes as an overall theme the way that fantasy reflects the real world and how this makes it valuable. Wrestlevania Posted March 14, 2008 If you're quick, UK Nova registrations are open at the moment and they have all episodes to date. Think I'll download and watch these over the weekend.
