The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Recommended Posts

Two of my favorite African groups, Baaba Maal and the Very Best, got together to make an album. I love this diptych from them.

Also, just because it's my perennial summer jam, here is Warm Heart of Africa by the Very Best with Ezra Koenig.

Heard this on BBCR2 the other day, probably the only decent track they've played on that station

Edit: the bad lip-synching at the start reminds me of Bob Mortimer in some indefinable way

It's pretty good.

Speaking of BBNG, they've released their new album.

And the master is back.

Oh, and Vic Mensa's latest EP is alright. When it gets good, it gets good.

I came across Thank you Scientist recently and have been listening to them non stop ever since.  If you like progressive rock, I don't think you can go wrong with these guys.

Yeah a friend of mine was selling me on them the other day saying that Die Antwoord were the South African Little Big.

Randomly came back to this album today. It's still nice and weird.

New song from a fun funk/hiphop band. I was at their gig last week and it was really fun, it was a horrible stormy night but they still managed to have a pretty crowded bar.

Oooh yes please

Along the same NSFW lines:

"saying that 'Die Antwoord were the South African Little Big.'"

I would rather put it vice versa, no?

He was so adamant about it I didn't want to protest.

So I guess I was too subtle, can we get some spoiler links on those videos with nudity in the preview Korax and Erkki?

Man, I can't delete this double post so I'm using it instead to post a link to Erdmann-Rohrer-Möbus-Courtois

I don't listen to jazz a lot, but this is great shit (luckily discovered through Deezer's recommendation engine), reminds me of John Lurie (Lounge Lizards etc.).
