New people: Read this, say hi.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I think I've been lurking around for a little while, just not posting all that much. I don't think I have much to say so I'll tell a story corresponding to Idle Thumbs.

So I was playing some MW2 with a few friends, just playing some demolition as we always do, then, out of the blue, a random joins. The randoms name? shanaman.

My Idle Thumbs kicked in, and I immediately shouted "It's Shaun Vanaman!"

"Who?" came the reply, I didn't respond, I was too busy sending a message to shanaman asking him if he was indeed Shaun Vanaman.

A message has been received:

No, sorry.

Regardless I kept shouting Shaun Vanaman. I think it annoyed him a little bit, because after the next game he eventually shouted "I'm not Shaun Fucking Vanaman!" and left.

Hahahahaha, Jesus Christ.

Just thought I would say hi. Have joined the thumbs community after listening to almost nothing else during my car journeys for work for a couple of months now. I am almost up to the current one now. My brain hurts and all I can think to say is "horsebag"

Hey dudes. I'm a long-time listener of the podcast. I just registered in the forums this week, in order to say "congrats" and "fuck you" to Chris on his new gig. I look forward to hanging out around here and maybe playing some games with y'all. :)

I'm fairly new to both the cast and the crew, but I like the level of activity and the tone of the posts around here so I might hang around.

I'm a gaming dad/phd-student from Sweden. Gaming's been a hobby since I got my first Atari 2600 and now probably my biggest pastime. Family and work tend to restrict my game time a bit, but that only makes me enjoy the hours I get even more.

Oh... almost forgot, 'hi'.

Hello. I've been an idle thumbs listener for quite a while and after hearing what Chris said about wanting BioShock in an air city, and then seeing the reveal of the new Irrational 'Icarus' trailer I just had to post. Sad the podcast is going away.

Stick around. This community has survived the website dying, the website coming back, the website dying again, the website being relaunched as a podcast, the podcast dying, and the podcast coming back. No reason to expect that the podcast dying again will slow us down. Welcome aboard.

And my presence, so I think it'll be okay.

That's not self-important at all!

And maybe the podcast will come back...

I agree, I really like the forums here, the only forum I regularly check in on. Welcome to new people!

Hello, all - I've been vaguely around for a while, on the forums and in multiplayer with Thumbs people - I didn't realise that I hadn't posted to say hello.

I'm Daniel, so the username is less than original. I play games, write about games when I can, live in London. That's... about it. My entire life. Oy.

Hey Everyone,

My name's Keiron. I've been listening to the podcasts for a while now and seeing as the forums are mentioned quite regularly in the casts it finally occurred to me that I should sign up.

I'm a programmer(not games though. as they're hard to make :S) and during my free time I'll usually play some games on my PS3, Wii and Steam on PC.

Love the podcasts and its the only thing I've been listening to when I need to take out my dog since I discovered it!

Also I'm from Gibraltar in Europe in case anyone was wondering...

Hey there. I've recently found this site, very much liking what I read and hear so far.

I'm 26, gamer since 1989, like pretty much all kinds of games except for sports.

Working as a translation specialist for a big software localization company right now.

Interests include music (Hard rock and heavy metal are favorite genres, but I'll listen to pretty much anything), movies (comedy, horrors), reading (pretty much everything from Terry Pratchett to Stephen Hawking to manuals on surviving in the wilderness, to articles on system neurophysiology), jogging.

Few favorite games:

Star control 2, Fallout, Planescape torment, Deus Ex, Thief series, Silent Hill 2, Okami, pretty much everything Tim Schafer does.

Started at five? I mean I think I've been playing games since 3 or 4, but I was terrible at games until somewhere in my early double digits.

Also, hello!!!
