Painting my room

Recommended Posts

Not to randomly pimp adventure games but I'd say Grim Fandango. I'm not sure which bit though. But since that would probably be a bit difficult, I'd then go with Full Throttle. The opening title shot maybe. Something though, I've always loved the Full Throttle style.

And of course Monkey Island, DotT, blah blah blah.

Idle Thumbs Banner: I'd dig that as a foot-ish deep banner on top of the wall, around the entire enclosed space of the room.

Oh man, Asteroids would be awesome. In all seriousness, of the ideas thrown out so far, that one is the one I'd be most likely to do myself.

Would you really want a black wall?

If it's for a darkroom it couldn't hurt ;) Or for a bedroom.

You could make those asteroids and ship from ... uhm... this stuff. (no idea what the English name for that is). And if you want to fo the extra mile you animate it :D

Well Snubs, Grim Fandango would be very difficult. Not just because of the act of painting itself, but also because it would make my room overtly dark. It's probably going to be my living room, so I want to make it at least a marginally comfortable, relaxing place.

And there's no better way to bring Zen into a room than by means of a rolling seascape. I've settled on Guybrush in his cart and that's what it's going to be =)

Skeletons and demons probably not the best choice then.

But genius with the Guybrush in the cart thing. Can't believe I didn't think of that. Hats off to you, sir and good luck.

Even though Rodi's decided, I've always liked this shot (and year) from Grim Fandango. :)

It was a good excuse to post the pic...

I agree. Grim Fandango is probably my favorite adventure game ever and that year is most definately my favorite. I loved the sleazy, noir-esque style of it. And the cat races? Mannn, good times.

But if we're talking Rubacava, my favorite location was always either the kitty gambling place (especially the seating section where you deal with Domino) or the morgue. Come to think of it, my favorite locals overall though were in the last year (Hector's Casino and the florist's hideout).

Man Grim Fandango, so many ideas packed into one game! I have to say though, one of my favorite non-obvious parts is when you converse with Celso in the automat at the end of year 2. Converting your living room into an automat might not be such a great idea though.

Great choice, this is one of the best video game scenery ever.

You'll have to post work-in-progress photo/video/whatever, you've been warned.

Well, today I heard that the apartment I wanted is already gone and that buying is a trifle more expensive than I had previously expected, so the idea might be put in the fridge for now =( Very unfortunate. I was really hyped to get my walls painted, but should I know go rental again... :frusty:

I always assumed the Thumb just ripped the picture from somewhere! It seemed so random! I'm so ashamed.

There is news! This morning I checked out a possible apartment and I liked it a lot and signed up for it. So as soon as the financing is done, I'll have my first own crib!

YEAH!!

So obviously I also checked out the possibilities for a wall painting. Unfortunately, all the rooms have been pasted with white whateverstuff in a fine texture like brick. I don't think that'll really lend itself beautifully for painting, but I could be mistaken. Does anyone have any idea on whether it's possible to paint on such a somewhat grainy, rough texture? A last resort would be the plain wall in my hallway. That'd be awesome too, to have a seascape there, but the only thing is the painting itself might be dangerous as the wall is perilously placed over a steep staircase. Thoughts!
