New The Master trailer that is my favorite yet:

There's also a showing tonight in Chicago, which I just moved away from last month. :(

What, on the basis of the Tintin picture? Or is there a new trailer I'm not seeing?

Concerning Bond; I was pretty disappointed with Quantum of Solace. Not because it was that bad in and of itself, but because it came on the heels of the unfathomable Casino Royale. I hold out a little hope that Skyfall will bring an inspired bit of espionage thriller again, but guard myself against another typical Bond romp.

Yeah, The Master trailers are my favourite kind: enough to give you a rough idea of the plot, but not enough to give anything away. I'm still not quite sure what to expect, but I'm intrigued. Excited even.

Just the Tintin picture ruining Daniel Craig for me.

Quantum of Solace is pretty bad. I think I've only made it through once without falling asleep.

The new Bourne movie could be quite good though.

Really? It just doesn't seem necessary. And I like watching Bourne movies because I like to think I (that is, my face, not my physique) resemble Matt Damon, so it's like a power fantasy :P This one doesn't have him, so it's useless!

Also, Nicolas Cage would be optimal for a Citizen Kane remake.

I watched We Need to Talk About Kevin earlier today, and loved much of it. The whole thing just looks magnificent, there are some great scenes there, and Tilda Swinton was just perfect.

One of my favourite things about the film was the soundtrack, and this one has been stuck in my head all evening:

As I was scrolling down I was hoping the guys in the background would also be Cage. As is, it's just not quite Cagey enough.

This is exactly what I was hoping too!

It was a pretty long time ago that I watched it, but I recall enjoying it. That said, I have a feeling that if you have gotten used to HBO in the intervening time, it will probably not have as much of an impact. It was one of the early BBC-HBO collaborations, which are almost always worth looking into, but there have likely been better or more important instances of since.

I'd recommend watching it. Overall, it's a solid show, but not an exceptional one. All of the lead characters are excellent.

The Spartacus trilogy has a slightly smaller emphasis on politics than Rome, if you just want Roman period stuff.

So Jean Claude Van Damme, in 6 Bullets. The synopsis has this to say.

"An ex-mercenary known for finding missing children is hired by a mixed martial arts fighter whose daughter has been kidnapped."

Did no-one realize they're basically just taking JCVD's career and making it into a single movie? This was intentional, right?

Been enjoying catching up with Burn Notice. It's cheesy as hell, and the characters get a bit annoying sometimes, but it's strangely addictive. I guess I just like the spy stuff.

I stopped watching that at some point and now saw the first episode of the previous season a couple of days back. It wasn't cheesy enough for me. The actual "burn" plot has never been very interesting and that episode at least was all about that and very serious. I think the show is at its best with really kooky cases and as much humour as they can manage to cram in it. Does it get back to episodes like that or does it now think it's a serious spy show?
