[15:18] Marek: woedend games has a similar manifesto of sorts stuck to their restroom door [15:18] Spaff: that is true [15:19] Spaff: unless you can make stalker or farcry [15:19] Marek: no [15:19] Spaff: and stalker sounds like it is fucked [15:19] Marek: stalker was never a real project [15:19] Marek: far cry had properly differentiated itself [15:19] Marek: they said ... let's make an FPS, in an awesome jungle [15:19] Spaff: yeah it had I guess [15:20] Marek: it had unique selling points [15:20] Marek: and a unique atmosphere [15:20] Spaff: but I mean, out code carmack etc, crytek is owning people's minds [15:20] Marek: yeah true [15:20] Spaff: but generally yes it is truth 1000000% [15:20] Marek: so replace carmack with "carmack and crytek" [15:20] Spaff: heh [15:20] Marek: cause crytek is just one of out 743568977643 companies who tried [15:21] Spaff: yes [15:21] Spaff: damn you game companies. [15:22] Marek: I mean this isn't even saying ... make something batshit insane like psychonauts [15:23] Marek: it's saying ... do something that stands out slightly [15:23] Spaff: yeah [15:23] Spaff: make an fps by all means [15:23] Spaff: but throw in something good somehow [15:23] Spaff: different [15:23] Spaff: fps, but you are a .. [15:24] Spaff: hahaha [15:24] Spaff: or counter-strike [15:24] Marek: like you start as a camel on an aircraft carrier [15:24] Spaff: hahaha [15:24] Marek: and you can dropped somewhere by a heli [15:24] Spaff: best game ever [15:24] Spaff: and the nyou. run about being a camel [15:25] Spaff: doing camel things [15:25] Marek: best disguise ever [15:25] Spaff: hahaha [15:25] Marek: and you overhear enemy plans [15:25] Spaff: Camel strike [15:25] Marek: it must be made [15:26] Marek: you have a water bar that runs out gradually [15:26] Spaff: hahaha [15:26] Spaff: but not for ages [15:27] Marek: but it is also reflected in the size of its erm . [15:27] Spaff: later you can upgrade to two humps [15:27] Marek: humps [15:27] Marek: which plays out like spore [15:27] Spaff: you have a spit attack [15:27] Marek: except the extra hump is your only component [15:27] Spaff: haha [15:27] Spaff: and you can only put it in one place [15:27] Marek: it's a retarded creature that cannot evolve further [15:27] Spaff: it has backwards knees though [15:27] Marek: 1 hump .... 2 humps .... evolution ends [16:29] Spaff: i think this conversation should be posted on the orums [16:29] Marek: ok
Carlius Posted July 17, 2006 Sounds like a great mod
brkl Posted July 17, 2006 Set in 17th Century North Africa, you are part of a pack of Arabian rogues who lay skirmishes travel routes (attacking while riding your camel has been removed due to balance reasons).
Twilo Posted July 17, 2006 This is why you guys write about games instead of making them.
Marek Posted July 17, 2006 (Nope, also making them.) Camel Strike is of course the opposite of what we were talking about in the beginning of that conversation. Just having some fun.
miffy495 Posted July 17, 2006 [pedant]Actually, in its early stages of the game, it would be a Dromedary (one hump) rather than a camel. (two humps) [/pedant] I'm picturing something like Camel Dragoon Ultra: 2007. Panzer Dragoon, but moving through the desert on a camel and using modern weaponry. A spin-off, if you will, of Sega's seemingly abandoned series. One of the imperial soldiers travels through time to try to find a super-advanced dragoon only to discover that the species has evolved into camels. Disheartened, but still wishing to complete his mission, he steals a camel and some modern weaponry and tries to find a way back to his own time. By the end of the game, after evolving from dromedary to camel, it finally reawakens as a dragoon and the last level has you flying through some modern city, dodging skyscrapers and such while racing desperately for a closing time portal and being fired upon by UN forces. ...man, I would totally play that. Markus Posted July 17, 2006 I see a new Thumbs t-shirt motive.
eljay Posted July 18, 2006 Don't be a pedant unless you are SURE you know what you are saying. A camel is any member of the genus Camelus, the one humped Dromedary being one and the two humped Bactrian being the other.
Twilo Posted July 18, 2006 What I want to see is a driving stage where the camel is on the back of a giraffe, and the giraffe is standing on a swamp hoverboat. They are chasing terrorists.
Marek Posted July 18, 2006 That reminds me of another game concept. Evil Giraffe Leaf Eater: you eat all leaves off trees, so that there will be no leaves. And then some animals might die.
Twilo Posted July 18, 2006 That reminds me of another game concept. Evil Giraffe Leaf Eater: you eat all leaves off trees, so that there will be no leaves. And then some animals might die. You need to balance your leaf eating with judicious pooping to ensure new growth of leaves later on in the game. Much of the skill in playing involves timing your poops to take best advantage of the sporadic savannah rainfalls.

ysbreker Posted July 18, 2006 an evil giraffe, like most evil personalities, wants to live forever. So he better make sure there will be food left for him to eat. Else his plan for complete world destruction and eternal life aren't that easy to realize. An evil overlord needs to be enviromentally concious if he wants to live forever and destroy the earth. Wait, what am I saying?
elmuerte Posted July 18, 2006 Kill 5 people without getting killed: a lucky strike Kill 10: you're the Marlboro man
Twilo Posted July 18, 2006 I don't you quite grasp the concept of being an evil giraffe. Evil Giraffe is thinking much too small, I'm expanding the gamespace to incorporate the powerful conflict and drama of Good vs Evil. You may go the way of the Good Giraffe and ensure the sustainability of your food stock, or you can become Evil Giraffe and plunder your neighbours territory for every last damn leaf you can get, which is your birthright! Features: -Over 20 Giraffe Force Powers including Force Giraffe Persusasion, and Force Giraffe Lightning! -Dozens of trees and bushes to feed from. Which one will you like best? -Epic Multiplayer modes: Giraffe Deathmatch, Capture the Shrub, Some other crap with giraffes in it! Coming Q2 2007
