Doom Movie Trailer Out

Recommended Posts

I'm...a little surprised. Usually, even for shitty movies, they try to make it look good in the trailer. For this one, it's like they didn't even try. It's almost as if it was their intention to come out and say "This movie will suck."

As a student planning on majoring in film sfter High School, I really don't see how anyone can become a film maker and want to make those kinds of movies. It is like going into fine art to draw stick figures.

Some people turn stick figures into an art form. Look at Quentin Tarantino.

Also, filming a movie after Doom feels to me like writing a tie-in novel for a porn movie.

Unlocking human genome = portal to hell?

k thx

It is a very layered message. You're not clever enough to get it.

Wow this trailer was shittacular. It blows my mind that for some reason Hollywood is incapable of translating something so straightforward as Doom to even a moderately competent level.

Tarantino's films actually hold recognizable characters and good storylines, whereas this Doom movie has the Rock and alien blastin'. Tarantino's films are definatly "shiny," but Pulp Fiction was definatly a great movie. What set that and Resevoir Dogs out form the crowd was the realisticly blunt and outright dialogue and actions when the characters were thrown into very extreme situations.

As far as Kill Bill goes- didn't like the first, thought the second was pretty good because it built on the characters and the storyline.

I like that they got the (terrible and bland but maybe meant to be menacing sounding) 80's horror movie trailer voice guy out of mothballs for this trailer's voiceover.

He's like the regular trailer guy but not quite as gruff sounding, and definitely less interested in his source material, despite his script telling him to describe some gruesome scenario.

All I was saying was that he works with cliches and pulp to make something of artistic value.

Is it just me or is almost everything really dark in the trailer? As in not-enough-light dark, not the mood it tries to set. I couldn't see what was going on at all whenever a monster of some sort was on-screen. Feels really cheap.

Also, hold the "Doom 3 is dark!!" puns.

Ha ha ha....

It's the perfect adaptation! Doom is totally the cheesy crappy Hollywood movie, with pretty graphics.

I know, I'm saying the cliches and pulp aren't what give it artistic value.

Indeed, but pulp is the medium.

I'll watch it, as long as they did the entire soundtrack on MIDI.

I was refering to stick figures (bad movies) in my simile as the end product, not the structure. Sallgood.

I can see a horrible movie as a pretty good interpretation of Doom 3. I was pretty dissapointed with the game- how little the plot was developed or the gameplay changed. I think THE ROCK fits the Sargeant's character pretty well, seeing how he just shoots stuff.
