Important If True 24: Eye Explodes, Brain Expands

Yeah, I had to stop using Zune and started using a different podcast app because the compatibility broke on a lot of podcast's RSS.

Shocker - the Zune media player was actually a very good alternative to iTunes.

Shaking hands with an electric eel is a very good alternative to iTunes. iTunes is the worst program installed on my computer by an order of magnitude.

I'm currently relistening to Episode 9, the one with the knife-stabbing robot, and you sure are fond of pitching buddy-cop robot movies.

Now you just have to cut out the token human character and pair the Knightscope up with the stabby knife arm.

Or day buddy cop movies and Apatow comedies are all we'll have left.

Where can I get this Shaking hands with an electric eel app (SHWAEE is a great acronymm)? I googled it and found no official site.

iTunes is so bad that I haven't had it installed on my computer since I stopped using Apple products. I actually liked the Zune Media player as a clean, one stop shop for music and podcasts, its successor Groove is not as versatile but at least it reads my OneDrive.

Also: The humans-as-storage thing might just be the film Johnny Mnemonic (which is set in 2021, by the way, so not long now).

Created an account just to chime in about feed errors because that's how much I love my idle podcasts!

I have been having issues for about the last week with the Beyond Pod app.  Every time I try to download any Idle Podcast, I get an error message "Reason to fail: SSLPeerUnverifiedException.  No peer certificate."

I've been using this app to download Idle Thumbs and its various podcasts for years without any issues.

Can you share what version of Android you're using?

As a workaround, can you change the feed url from https: to http:?

I've reverted the change we made to serve secure enclosures when requesting the feed over https, since it seems like a few clients have TLS issues (My money's on old CA bundles).

@scmoviegirl @Xealot42 Let me know if it works for you now?

Idle Thumbs and Important If True are now working (thank you!), weirdly the latest episode of Idle Weekend still gives the same error, though the second to last episode downloads fine.

That's really strange - was the second to last one broken before? Otherwise, I wonder if it's just a cached feed.

I've refreshed the feed a few times to try and clear it out but it's still wonky.  The other episodes seem fine - I unfortunately did not note if the others were broken before the fix.  Hopefully when the next episode comes out it won't have the same issue.

Everything seems to be working normally for me now. I successfully downloaded Important if True 24, Idle Weekend 7/27/2017, and Designer Notes Steve Gaynor Part 1.

Unfortunately I don't see a way to view what RSS URL I am subscribed to in the Zune software. If it refuses to download again in the future I'll try resubscribing to the regular (non "s") feed and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the help!

The Thumbs walked right up to it by describing Cronenbergian flesh-blocks and organic memory storage, but didn't mention Cronenberg's film eXistenZ by name. I thoroughly recommend it to anyone here who hasn't seen it (and then Videodrome after that for further tech/flesh melding).

Whoops! I've actually seen Videodrome but not eXistenZ.

It's really cool, it's like the popcorn version of Videodrome but still with lots of goop, plus data-streaming umbilical cords etc. Definite endorsement.

Oh yeah, for sure. If you're a Cronenberg fan, it's full of Cronenberg-ass shit. Not necessarily one of his real classics, but a middling 'berg is still more interesting to look at than a lot of stuff.

Also it's about video games, which should resonate for people here.
