If I wasn't already committed to two other games I would! For some reason being a part of two games, neither of which are fantasy, really makes me want to play fantasy. Specifically a wizard, too, which I never do!

...Binging The Adventure Zone certainly didn't help with that desire.

We could use a Wizard! Anyone? Hello?

Or a healer. A healer would be nice.

Hey guys I'm thinking about joining. Currently pondering a witch! They're not a full healer but they do have a lot of healing utility at low levels. They're more about control though. But they do come with a lot of Arcane skills.

Yeah I don't like Archetypes too much in Pathfinder at least in other classes. I'm more about playing the character with a little bit of variation into things that are needed rather than specialisation.

I can pick up the healing hex rather early on but since it functions as Cure Light Wounds that will be tricky to do in the middle of battle as it's a touch spell used by a character with 7hp at the most (at lvl 1).

Nothing's written in stone as of yet anyway especially since I'll be going over the character creation with Jason later.

Btw I'm on standbye to do that. I can check back every half hour or so in slack but if I estimated the time we were meant to be doing then my bad. I think I said around this hour give or take 1-2 but maybe I missed something to confirm it.

Just want to let everyone know that I won't be able to run the game this coming Saturday. If we wanted to move backward to Friday that would be fine with me, but that's a lot of people to wrangle, understandably.

Otherwise, next week will be set to resume as scheduled. I apologize for the inconvenience.

My only complaint (calling it that feels a bit harsh though) is that we just aren't getting much XP. It's been like 3 sessions and I'm a little over halfway to level 2. I'm not really sure there's a great fix for that but I thought I would put it out there.

Oh and how much do we want to find other people to join up? I can tweet seeing if anyone who I know on Twitter wants to maybe join, or I can reach out on another forum to see if anyone there wants to play. Or if we want to give Idle Thumbs people time to show up.

I hadn't considered the experience thing - that's a good comment for me, since I'm unlikely to notice or relate that sort of thing as a GM and having not played Pathfinder before. I'll definitely keep that in mind.

And yeah, by all means, I encourage you to invite anyone you think would enjoy or add to the game, no matter where they're from. Please feel free.

This might be short notice, but I wanted to try using Discord as well as Skype for our future sessions. If we can't assemble this by tomorrow, it's OK. Discord can't do video, so we'll still keep Skype open for cameras, but it should be much more elegant for audio and less likely to take it upon itself to adjust my levels on the fly - resulting in players no longer hearing my backdrop audio or getting echoes of themselves. (So, in effect, we'll have a muted Skype video call open simultaneously with a Discord audio call.)

Download Discord here: https://discordapp.com/

Once it's installed, run its audio wizard (I normally don't like running wizards, but Discord makes it pretty much mandatory to do so, in my experience).

Join the server by clicking on the circled + button on the left and enter this code: https://discord.gg/010a02OQvc33tglZm

Hit me up if there are any problems.

Sounds good. Having a P2T button again makes me a lot more comfortable with people in the back ground.

Oh and just a thought. So you could run XP based on sessions played instead of monsters defeated? Maybe adjust all of that for the progress/types of challenges we face but right now monster slaying does feel like the bedrock of levelling which, isn't quite what Pathfinder is about. As a side not to that I'm not sure how the other characters are dealing with their xp but for the cleric and myself we've accrued around 110 xp out of 2000 in our progress to level 2 out of the two sessions we've played compared to Reynard's half a level. That might be by design but Idk.

Another method is for the GM to award levels based on when they feel its right. This could be after a campaign arc or some super boss battle. You peeps might want the more mechanically rigorous experience of Pathfinder though.

The other thing though is that early levels of Pathfinder can be quite limiting for some people both in terms of what players have the option to do and what the GM can throw at them. As I remember CR 0-1.5 enemies mostly boil down to small bats, some dogs, some humans, Kobolds, etc. So if that ever gets annoying you could always expedite the early character levels, say make them last around 2-4 sessions until some threshold that feels right for you/us and then it's back to slower experience gain.

I'm all for just doing a level per dungeon-ish system and slowing it down when it feels appropriate. It also encourages less murder and more talking things over. Although I think with been getting XP regardless of how we finish an encounter so that's less of a big deal here.

I like doing it room by room because I enjoy this little house rule of giving everyone the same XP but with an additional 10% or so to one party member I think acted with particular acuity in each given scene. So far I think that's been decently spread out (i.e., no one person is getting it the majority of the time - although I haven't been keeping track); and saving XP distribution for the end of a session, a dungeon, anything, would eliminate that.

I definitely do hear you, though, about XP only being accrued through kills in this way. I'll absolutely make sure to distribute experience for roleplaying scenes outside of dungeons from now on.

Doing some retroactive math, that XP is low, moddy. Slightly low, as in those two sessions we've only technically resolved two encounters, but still low. I'm not sure why. Again, I'd rather not retcon it, just expect me to address it in the future and feel free to bring it up going forward if it remains an issue. I personally don't think level one is that constrained creatively, but I know that's easy for the GM to say.

Hey would anyone mind if I started a new character? Now that I have a better grasp on the system and know what's out there it would be kinda nice to start fresh as an investigator. Since we aren't that far in I hope it's probably not too much trouble. And I'm fine with starting over at level 1. Now that the XP rates are faster I don't feel like it'll take too long to catch back up.

Or, just throwing this out here: we could take a week off of this campaign and come back and switch to D&D 5E.

I don't think anyone here is particularly attached to Pathfinder and I think 5E would be a lot easier to play and run (especially now that I'm personally playing in a 5E campaign and not just mixing up rules but mixing up Roll20 use cases between the systems).

You all can either transfer your characters over to 5E or, like Vulpes, make someone totally new now that you've had some play time.

We could resume in the Forsaken Fortress or start a story kind of semi-from the ground up - creatively I'd work something in there - but also you guys are in a pretty rough spot in the dungeon right now since you're only about halfway through and were asking for a long rest. That's one of the reasons I also suggest the changeover.

If new characters do end up being made, we should do that together so that you have some shared backstory (possibly related to what's already happened in Pathfinder).

Tell me what you think, please.

I'd be down with that. I actually like Pathfinder just fine, but 5E is certainly easier to run. And I'm down to do character creation stuff today instead of playing.

Oh and if we do just want to play Pathfinder tonight I'll just stick with old Reynard. I wasn't planning to switch this week anyways.

5E sounds good. It might be good to just go with a new character for me, as well.

I found out last minute today I can't make this session anyway, but how would we feel about a character creation session this week? Which days work for people?

Midday tomorrow or next weekend. But I can also set up my own character if need be.

I could also do noon to 4PM weekdays as a one time thing if that works for anyone else.
