I liked the episode! Much better than I had feared. The focus on their home town is a good idea and really sweet.

You can try some vpn nonsense I guess, but Seeso is US only - owned by NBC. I am sure torrents of it will float around also. I would also recommend tweeting as Seeso to let them know that you're interested in watching it outside the US.

So I've heard VPN won't work - but if you have an Amazon prime account you can add a US address to your account and subscribe through Amazon prime.

Well holy shit The Adventure Zone was a doozy this week.

I thought I knew where this was going, but Griffin zagged for sure.

#TwentySerpentine.
My heart was pounding leading up to the end of this episode. I had a moment of realization at the point in the episode when

the red robe said that "you'll recognize me but i won't recognize you" where i was like 'oh shit. it's barry. it's our boy barry' and I was thoroughly delighted with the reveal.

fuck i love this show.

I feel like I need to re-listen to TAZ again - I kind of lost the plot there in the middle when I had to stop listening for a bit.

I wonder what they will do when this arch concludes?!

I binge-listened to the early episodes while playing American Truck Simulator and may not have focused on the details of the story enough,

what was Barry Bluejean's thing again?

Anyway, I'm so glad that the arc finally went somewhere that wasn't a succession of torture chambers. Can't wait for the next episode.

He was just an NPC in the first arc who was helping them in their initial escort quest. He wasn't important but was a weird fan favourite, largely because of his name I think. He died in the Phandolyn explosion.

Griffin himself indicated that Barry wasn't an important character by any means in their The The Adventure Zone Zone episode where they answered questions on the show. So I'm guessing he just thought it would be fun to bring him back in as the red robe.

An even deeper dive...

Barry Bluejeans is a throwaway name from when they were so far back that they were still playing the starter kit game that's included in the 5th Edition manual (The lost mines of phandelver in case you ever want to Relive The Adventure). They just took a character that was prenamed and started calling him that because they couldn't remember "Sildar Hallwinter". Almost everything beyond the first ~5 episodes is Griffin writing a story, but Barry Bluejeans is an OG goof that he's now written back in.

Ok, thanks for the clarification! It seems like I had not missed anything, except for the fan favorite thing.

This is a fantastic idea. Stolen for slow nights.

spoilers for the most recent adventure zone episode

I was honestly so worried that Griffin was just going to make the Director secretly the bad guy this whole time and am so relieved that he's sidestepped that. I do want to know why she forsake the only a head guy in neverland, but i'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. I'm so stoked on Ango bustin' in on the end of this episode & Davenport being more than just a pokemon though.

I think it's understandable to leave him given that she was scared, in over her head and might have doomed the whole world if she died/was trapped since no one else knew about the relics and the hunger.

Separately, now that it's the Max Fun pledge drive I have a question. What kind of commitment do you make when becoming a member? I couldn't see anywhere on the site if there was any kind of minimum/set period involved.
