Ewokskick, myself, and likely Cleinhun will all be there today. I'm wearing my doritos/mountain dew/video games t-shirt!

It was great a lot of cool games to look out for.  Omnibus is crazy fun.  Jenny Leclue was clever nancy drew-esque mystery adventure.  Tacoma looks like a worth follow-up to Gone Home.  Museum of Simulation Technology is one the cleverest puzzle games I've seen in awhile.  Wattam looks like the power of friendship was turned into a bomb and put in Viva Pinata.  There were many others that looked great.  It was the kind of event that makes you exited about games.  A salve to the cynicism of the AAA games industry.

Here are the highlights of what I saw & played last night. (and ewokskick pictured playing DOTT)

1. DOTT - I'll definitely play this. I don't like how much the mouths move when they talk, but I think it'll be fun still. I've never played it, so a remaster/update will give me an excuse to do so. http://dott.doublefine.com/

2. Nick Robinson hosted! I am excited to watch the archive of the demo stream as I was standing in line for most of the night and unable to watch the demos.

3. OXENFREE - Very excited for this, telltale alums making a game with similar telltale conversation timers where you pick what you're going to say. Has a supernatural aspect that I'm excited to explore further. http://nightschoolstudio.com/

4. Tacoma! Obviously excited for this. Looks beautiful. The demo gives the impression of more of what I liked about Gone Home on a more ambitious scale. I probably didn't need a demo to tell me that though. https://tacoma-game.com/

5.Night in the Woods - this game made me laugh out loud multiple times in the ~10 minutes I got to play it. Dark and funny and I'm really into it http://www.nightinthewoods.com/

6. Donut County - a la Katamari Damacy. you're given a hole that you drag along the plane of the ground dropping things into it. The more things that drop the bigger the hole gets and the bigger items can drop down. They things can interact in interesting ways, like dropping a campfire and an ear of corn can result in popcorn flying up out of the hole, so there seems to be some small puzzles that probably get more complex over the course of the game. http://donutcounty.com/

7. Burly Men At Sea: 2D Point & click adventure, but navigating the screens consists of dragging left and right to reveal more of the screen. Played this at the end of the night and didn't have a ton of time with it, but it looks totally gorgeous like a children's illustration style design that I adore http://www.burlymenatsea.com/

Oh, I also played Outer Wilds.  It seems like a very cool exploration game.  I was just exploring a planet and quickly found a way to take off and all of a sudden I was exploring a solar system.  It had a nice balance of relaxing moments and moments of wonder.

I tried to watch this live on Twitch, but their stream was plagued with technical issues (stream started very late midway through a game, repeated audio dropouts, I think the stream died at one point...). Does anyone know if DF has put up a glitch-free upload of all the stuff they tried to stream?

Polygon has their streams up on youtube, and it is easier to skip through the technical difficulties. It's split across 3 videos

Thanks for reporting back! I had never heard of this before, but sounds like it was great. I already had my eye on Tacoma and Night in the Woods, but I now have a bunch of other games on my radar too.

Interesting! Do you happen to know (or were you able to flip between modes to see) if the mouths move more than in the original?

I did not try it in the other mode.  I will say that the user interface feels much improved.  They've simplified the verb-guessing a little bit.  When you select an object it limits the number of possible verbs.  Even on the console with a controller it didn't feel too awkward.  I'll always recommend playing an adventure game with a mouse, but it still felt okay with the playstation controller.

Looking at a youtube video of the old version  Ben X, the mouths move a comparable amount. I also don't like the way it looks in the old version, but it's I think very noticeable given the movements do not correlate with the words being said so it's jarring given the updated quality in resolution/pixel density/whatever you want to call it.

Ah, okay, thanks (and thanks ewokskick)!

Just an FYI - OXENFREE, the game I was most excited to get my hands on going into Day of the Devs, and am still very intrigued by has a January 2016 release date. This just got announced earlier this week.
