Just remembered a friend who--at around 23--learned that the expression was "might as well" instead of "minus well."

When writing for the WizardJam, I had to look up if you "cut to the case" or "cut to the chase". I was wrong.

No sure if these count:

Expresso (which kind of makes sense - it's a faster way to drink coffee)

Cup of chino (I'd not heard this until I read about it today but apparently it's confused for cappuccino).

When I was little, I used to think it was Expresso.

Expresso is a pretty good one. Never heard "cup of chino," but I like it.

I don't get this. What's it supposed to be?

"She wouldn't know us from Adam." It's not a super common saying.

Related to the thread title: who here thinks Donkey Kong Country 2 is subtitled "Diddy Kong's Quest" and not "Diddy's Kong Quest"?

This is exactly what I was thinking when trying to work it out.

Yeah, I've never heard that before.

Not me until the last year or so, until then I'd never spotted the wordplay. Most excellent.

Yeah, I've never heard that before.

I have, although I first heard it as "she wouldn't know me from a bar of soap".

I got Diddy's Kong Quest as a kid but I missed the wordplay in Tails' full name. In 8-year-old me's defence, that wordplay isn't going to be a phrase a non-American hears often.

"Miles Prower"

Good lord, I had never noticed that before.

Every time somebody brings up that pun, it takes me a second to figure it out again.
