  1. YES. multiplayer. deathmatch.

That would be the most f'd up game in the world.

It needs to be made. Jake! Screw the adventure game stuff. Make a new Looney Tunes game pls.

  2. Decided to get the game after realizing how badly I needed Space Asshole 2: Jungle Asshole. Fun to have a game where you can just fuck around. Anyway, the moment that kinda brought me over the edge was this. I bailed out of a burning helicopter, didn't realize just how low to the ground I was. It still put me in the freefall animation. I frantically hit the parachute button, but instead my face slams into the ground, and then Looney Tunes style, my chute deploys a second after I've already tasted dirt.

I actually want to buy this game, based on that post alone. They really need to make a Looney Tunes game. Paint a cave onto a rockface, then run into it and watch your enemies run into the rock xD

  3. I ordered Soul Silver yesterday, and my girlfriend is really excited for us to play it together. So much so that we spent most of the day today playing Pokemon Snap on the Virtual Console in anticipation. She did ask me one thing about it that I am unqualified to answer though, so I'll put it to you folks. The pokemon in this game, are they the set from the original Gold/Silver, or have they added in all the newer, crappier pokemon from the later games?

Yeah, unfortunately, all 493(ish) shitty Pokémon are in there. Well, apart from the, like, 250-ish awesome Pokémon (and the included 151 AMAZING Pokémon).

I think that's whats got me so bummed about Soul Silver - I'm like at the second gym, and thanks to the Pokéwalker, I've already got a Kangaskhan. That's not right people, I shouldn't be able to get a lvl 10 Kangaskhan.

I don't know why - Silver is still my favourite Pokémon game - but SoulSilver is seriously letting me down.

  4. Wait, WHAT? YOU TURNED DOWN 30 MILL?

I'll have it if you don't want it.

I only ever seem to get porn spam - ie. "Do you want your penis enlarged?" "Here, we're selling viagra for CH$AP!"

    x_x

  5. And on the first episode of Weekend Confirmed.

Back to a book I'm (attempting) reading; The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins. Atm I'm trying to figure out what I want to do/where I want to go with regards to Universities, and I saw Human Sciences at Oxford and it looked pretty pro, so I'm trying to go through their recommended reading list, and then wow them at an interview!

Oh, here's a question I'd really like if you Americans could answer. Of the following Universities, which have you heard of?

    -Oxford

    -Cambridge

    -Imperial College

    -St Andrews

    -University College London

  6. So I have heart gold, yet no working DS. Second hand DSi ordered which hopefully will arrive tomorrow, did I buy a DSi for Gold alone, kind of, Goldensun DS should be out this year also.

Should've done what I did man, and just buy a Lite. 3DS later this year dude!

  7. You are correct of course but I should say that it's primarily used in the UK (at least from a GP perspective) to help treat depression and anxiety. But if you want to be a PEDANT ;p

On a side note... You're not free to sit some piddly little exams in June are you? xD

    I wish I was...

Unfortunately, I've got my own exams to sit, thank you very much. Psychology AS for the win! Well, and Maths, English Language and English Literature. :P

  8. I like it. A couple of things I felt didn't 'flow' well, mind.

He did not smoke or drink or do drugs, and he did not have much to do with either men or women (this not being by choice), but he could be greedy and selfish and maybe swindle when he needed to.

It's just such a long sentence man, same as

A desk, a laptop, a telephone, two ladder-backed straight chairs, a small coffee machine, some resource books and a couple of forgotten paperbacks he’d borrowed off someone or another added little personality but a lot of blandness, but Bernard didn’t care.

Because of the length, it doesn't really read well. I'd suggest to slightly tweak those two, and it's a great little excerpt.

  9. Good for you man! I would love to go snowboarding, I'm jealous ;) Cool pics too although motorbikes scare me.

When I read CBT, I thought you meant cognitive behavioural therapy, which, as it's a treatment for depression, didn't gel with your post at all. I AM REVISING TOO MUCH. I see illness everywhere!

Weelllllll, doesn't just have to be for depression :P Really it's a method of altering one's cognitive processes, isn't it? So Stress is another well-known cause of someone going to CBT.

But yeah, it's a bit out of place :P

  10. Ehh, well I hate plugging, but I feel I should!

I write for an awesome little website called Game Rant. We're pretty new, but a sister site to the quite well-established Screen Rant. That's about it really :) Check it out!

Oh, and in case you want to check out the articles that I personally have written (God knows why you'd want to, but hey, I've been told I can write something decent) then click here. Thanks!

  11. Well with a music game, all that can be done is mute certain tracks. Music is a particularly important aspect of a game, which coupled with sound effects create the overall audio experience. This is something Bad Company 2 does fantastically, creating a fantastically immersive game particularly in multiplayer. If a gun in a shooter doesn't sound good, you will be less inclined to use it.

Come to think of it, L4D2 should have won the best audio, though I haven't played Uncharted 2, I very much doubt it tops L4D2. Though I consider the majority of awards a joke, including the Oscars to an extent.

I agree entirely. When I was watching it on Friday, I was incredibly surprised to see UC2 win over L4D2 in terms of audio.

  12. Thanks, Miffy for taking so much time to answer my question. I have downloaded the demo and will definitely spend at least an hour with it due to your good salesmanship. Also: I got excited when you said the game doesn't take itself seriously. I didn't like the Bayonetta demo, but when I heard about how much that game did NOT take itself seriously I was like: CAR --> BEST BUY --> PURCHASE WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT, and I loved that game. within the next 120 minutes I'll start the Perfect Dark demo, and if I'm lucky, I'll have a religious experience like I did with my other N64 throwback attempt, Sin & Punishment (if anyone has a Wii and has not played S&P...fucking do so. If you like action video games AT ALL this game will become your new God for at least a little while).

I have to say; If you haven't played PD before, I think you should be a little cautious. It was/is a great game for the N64 era, but if you've grown accustomed to the whole Call of Duty/Halo style of FPS, and expect PD to be similar, then you're way off. I loved this game back in the day, and when my 360 gets sent back I fully intend on buying it, but I can see why someone who doesn't have the nostalgia trip to rely on may not like the experience.

  13. I've noticed at least three other thumbs on my friends list playing this, so I figured I'd create a thread. I've only played through the DataDyne intro missions so far, but I'm really impressed by how this game has held up. In HD and with the higher polycount characters, it looks almost on par with Halo (1) and still plays surprisingly well given the way they've attempted to keep the feel of the N64 controls while modernizing them at the same time. I haven't played this game since I was 15, so I started on Agent difficulty just in case the game started kicking my ass. I'm completing all the Perfect Agent missions while going through the early levels out of habit and getting confused that it's not saying "objective complete" when I do a thing. I guess I'll have to bump it up sooner or later. I don't know if it will become a mainstay multiplayer game, but any thumbs up for a nostalgia deathmatch or something, hit me up. I got the expansion pack for my xbox, so I can play with more than 2 people at a time and everything.

Once my sodding Xbox gets sent back (although, admittedly, I should probably send it off first...) I will definetely get this game.

You were 15 when you last played this, I was... 7? lol - I can just about remember an awesome laptop gun, and one that shot through walls. I loved that game.

  14. I don't know if it's appropriate or not to post this here, but here it goes. Apparently there have been a lot of layoffs at News Corp/IGN, according to a leaked memo over at Joystiq. Among the casualties are Podcast Beyond host and Former Executive Editor at IGN, Chris Roper, industry veteran Andy Eddy of Team Xbox, and founder of Team Xbox Brent "Shockwave" Soboleski.

This fucking sucks. And the forum responses to this have been total rubbish, ranging from people saying these people deserved to get fired to recommending other IGN employees get fired for reasons as petty as multiplayer game etiquette.

On a totally selfish note, I just hope that Podcast Beyond doesn't get totally decimated in all this. It won't be the same without Roper, but I still enjoy it from week to week and would hate to see one of the better podcasts out there wiped off the face of the internet. Also, a link to CastMedium's post on the issue, including links to the respective IGN and TeamXbox forum threads:

    http://www.castmedium.com/2010/03/16/layoffs-strike-ign-and-team-xbox/

"These layoffs totally suuuuck." - IGN.com

"We only fire the best." - IGN.com

Seriously though, I can't say that I normally feel affected when layoffs happen. I know that last year's 1UP layoffs signalled a complete change in their site structure, as well as the change from "1Up Yours" to "Listen UP", but I completely don't understand what has actually happened over at IGN.

The only staff member I know of that has been given the sack is Chris Roper, and personally, I think that's ridiculous. Why lay him off? He's a great podcast host (Beyond is one of the better podcasts on the internet, period), a good writer and it always sounded like he was a hard worker. Why did he get laid off?

  15. Time to buy some buttons!

Time to buy a new brain for me. I love Sam and Max, I think I'm a pretty clever guy... It just turns out I'm not a particularly clever guy when it comes to Sam and Max! (Or most adventure games, for that matter)

  16. At least the love scene. WHAT ARE GIRLS?

Speaking of, have you all looked up the Heavy Rain sex scene on Youtube? The comments are hysterical. Someone said "Wow. That was actually beautiful" in all seriousness. Uhh.

I played it in-game, I don't need to sit through that again xD
