  1. Can you 3D print the badges at all? Is there a Nintendo PrintBoy coming to market anytime soon? For the 3DS.

It wouldn't work on the 2DS because there are some pieces of Nintendo Magic Dust that can only be properly experienced in 3D.

  2. The Nintendo Badge Arcade is a fascinating thing: the physics simulation, the writing, the way it sidles up to the line and over it with incentives to put down for a bunch of plays and a wallpaper that can't be worth the dollar price (surely?)

but oh man, and girl, does it ever take a long time to load sometimes

  3. Seems like the generally accepted theory is that code breaking efforts accidentally skipped a step, meaning the Red Herring badge was obtained earlier than intended, something that encouraged people to keep looking for clues when really the finish line had already been crossed.

Another complimentary theory is that the ARG was added only after Valve employees noticed people searching for one and decided to have some fun with it. This can be supported by a couple of things, such as the late date that Store pages were changed to house part of the puzzle's mechanism, and the Red Herring badge's "ARG?" subtitle.

There's a good rundown on the Reddit sub's wiki if you want more -https://www.reddit.com/r/steamsaledetectives/wiki/summary

  4. The community of volunteer developers over at Promods has continued to work away at its map enlargement and refinement project for Euro Truck Simulator 2, and released Promods 2.0 the other week.

That means a ton of new roads, vistas, cities, even whole new countries to explore / topple over on / crash into / receive speeding and traffic offense fines in, and as it coincides with me getting back into ETS2 in a pretty fun way over the last few months, I wanted to give it a mention here.

It's a huge free addition to the base game, and good for the ETS studio if my experience is even partially representative - I ended up buying one of the official expansions a good deal earlier than I otherwise would have.

    Thank you Promods.

  5. Had the annual red-dots-on-black-backgrounds, blue-lines-on-whites freak out the other day:

What's wrong with this computer? Why are the colors messed up?

Hm. Screen keeps blacking out. Is it a faulty cable? That's an inexpensive replacement.... nope. Is it a bad graphics driver update? That'd be a hassle... everything seems up to date but not recently updated.

Has the graphics card shorted out, cracked, broken? Oh no. Please don't be the graphics card. That's money. Uh ohhhh

Wait. It's a bit dusty in there. Better take the case off and clean it all up a bit before burial.

    > clean, clean, clean <

    Working again, hurrah!

  6. (The space monster bit didn't really do much for me either, but at least it serves to establish the sort of things Han and Chewie are up to these days.)

Speaking if which, is there a decent Star Wars equivalent of (or fan mod for) the Elite / Frontier space trading and smuggling type of game?

That was my first thought when seeing the scene unfold.

Didn't Amy Hennig work on the Uncharted series of games? Doesn't Nathan Drake have traces of the Han Solo cocky rogue character about him? And isn't Hennig working on a Star Wars project at the moment?

  7. So who else thinks that

Snoke = Jar Jar in disguise?

    Don't stop believing!

Bit too far for me. Sith Binks is what should have happened in II and makes more sense than I's terrible merchandising-first approach; Kylo's helmet nozzle as Binks homage is as much as I can accept for the new trilogy though

Maisie Richardson should be replaced by Senator Jar Jar as a Blu-Ray bonus feature

  8. So remember when

the planet was blown up, there was a shot of a bustling metropolis as annihilation approached, and an intense zoom to close up on a uniformed young woman who was both introduced and killed off in the same moment?

Theories, speculations? Something for another film to explore, or something left on the cutting room floor .. er, hard drive?

  9. Han dies: a force awaken spoiler thread

That would've been awkward. Saw that happening a mile off.

You're probably already well aware, of course, but just as a point of interest there's this nugget (from t'wiki for Ep VI: Return of the Jeds):

"Ford suggested that Han Solo be killed through self-sacrifice. Kasdan concurred, saying it should happen near the beginning of the film to instill doubt as to whether the others would survive, but Lucas was vehemently against it and rejected the concept."

  10. Anyway, I saw the movie. The trailers did nothing for me and I wasn't particularly excited. I liked it more than I thought I would, but at the same time it had all the problems I expected it to have too. Things I suspect most people won't see as problems. People who want to like it will.

Come on, let's get into it then!

I was really happy with several major aspects of the film: Rey coming through as the main character, emphasized by her final quest; herself and Leia being equal if not superior to many of their peers; the question of her parentage being left unanswered, in explicit terms at least, for example. Weaving in plot points that were originally intended for Ep VI also appreciated.

It did fit into the theme of Discovering Cool New Things People Can Do, but I couldn't buy her discovering her force powers, matching Kylo for force use immediately, and then beating him in a saber battle mere hours later.

I'm fine with keep spoiler tags on until Friday, the US release.
