I don't know the title of the game, but that was episode 35: "A Great Way to Have Fun."
Mwah. Thank you, dear.

Does anyone remember the episode where Remo talked about the GDC adventure game and played a sound clip from it? I'm curious to play it, so if you know the title of it, I would greatly appreciate that as well.

...I really wish there was a fantasy total war of some kind. For whatever it's worth, I know Medieval 2: Total War got modded quite a bit, and I distinctly remember thorough mods for Lord of the Rings and Legend of Zelda themes. The game is fairly cheap on Steam.

:0I completely missed that. I very much hope the climax of the game involves sinking a battleship and the arch villain… saying something about it.
How about "Pretty sneaky, sis!"

I should probably be ashamed at how amazingly excited and happy I am for the possibility of a podcast. Best wishes!

I did a little sleuthing (so little, it's not even actually sleuthing) and noticed that Remo left Irrational in October of last year and moved back to San Francisco in January. Perhaps this is all old news as I haven't kept up with any of the gentleman save for the Idle Thumbs twitter account, but does anyone know what's going on? I'm having dreams of Remo being hired at Double Fine or Telltale.

Hell, if the deal is good enough, I buy games I can't even play just because I know it will work out eventually. You're describing my life. The only PC I have is a laptop from 2005, and I still end up buying games just because they're cheap, banking on the idea that I'll get a good desktop eventually.

So I decided to subject myself to this game.
It's not horrible. Bad, but not horrible.
That being said, I wouldn't recommend it at all and suggest sticking to watching the GB guys; their commentary makes the game a million times more enjoyable.

The joy of exploration in Fallout 3 comes not from the landscape, but from the traces of human life. Every time you find an abandoned camp or a building with signs of occupation, you can piece together a little story about who was there and why. The detail in these cases is amazing, as some of the stories above show. There is the sense of intimacy that comes from stepping into what was once someone's personal space, even though that person is long gone and probably dead.In fact I would say that this is the central theme of Fallout 3; "The traces we leave behind and what they say about us".
I second this. Fallout 3 has a bland landscape, but I love finding an old holotape, PC, or note that lets my mind build a context for what I see.
Tangent: I was playing about a month ago and found a dead body in a house somewhere in the Capitol that read "Search the house" or something to that effect; anybody know what this is a part of? Is there an actual thing this leads to or are they just teasing me?

I would have willingly sacrificed almost any of you to see them (hopefully I'll get a chance sometime this year).<3
A chance to see Soundgarden, or sacrifice us.....?

I also really enjoyed the music in "Digital: A Love Story"
Go play and listen: http://www.scoutshonour.com/digital/

Went to Coachella and saw Jonsi (new band by the Sigur Ros' front man), and am greatly enjoying their "Go" album- they make excellent noises.

Don't worry, we are safe http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=646885Oh man. The image of miniature T47's and Big Dogs destroying the world in their war made me crack up, mostly because I saw the opposing war rooms filled with geeks frantically tinkering away on models.

Interesting! There's been a slight discussion about it in the Books, book, books thread (edit: just realised we're in that thread right now). I did the thing where I ordered the Stephen King Box on Amazing and proceeded to read the books according to a dependency graph I found on some site, so that the greatest possible number of references would make sense. However, the last three or four books in the main Dark Tower series were so shit it almost ruined the whole thing for me. I'm still glad I read most of the books, but I now appreciate them more as separate stories, rather than components of a single complex one. For example, The Stand, From a Buick 8 (my first King book), It, and many more are simply fantastic.I read those back in High School and my undiscriminating mind just ate up the idea of cowboys in Western-fantasy. It was around the time I was really into the "Deadlands" TCG. Jeez, I'm such a nerd.
To recommend something: anything Raymond Carver.

"Life Well Wasted" has already been lauded here, but I'd like to add my "It's awesome" 2 cents in for it.
On non-VG related casts "12 Byzantine Rulers" and "Norman Centuries" (both by Lars Brownworth) are pretty enjoyable.

This should probably be it's own thread. This one is more for asking about specific games.Fair enough.
To get on topic then....
Risen for the 360? Worth trudging through the rough interface?

So I've been out of college for an year now and I kind of miss exams.
Where can I sign up to be a professional student?

Read it. Saying "Hi".
Hi.
I've been listening to the Thumbs since Original Episode 43 and finally decided to become active here. Though I was a purely console gamer growing up (NES, N64, Dreamcast, Gamecube) listening to this podcast convinced me to use my laptop for more than writing essays and recording music. Thanks to the Thumbs, I've played some awesome games (Fallout, Diablo II, Torchlight, Deus Ex, Stasrcraft) that I probably wouldn't have tried out if not for their enthusiastic recommendations.
That is all.
End post.
