  1. I don't think saying hi to internet strangers can ever be smooth and not awkward.

So true. You'd think this would be limited to someone you were interested in dating (as I recall those never went well. Ever.), but I think it's even worse if it's just a message board acquaintance or online gaming friend.

Probably because I'm paranoid that they're secretly a lunatic that's gonna pull out a gun and shoot me in the face for some long forgotten flippant comment I might have made. Or that all the times they said "I'm gonna rape you" in an online game - they weren't just kidding around.

  2. Alive 4-ever, while being a blatant Left 4 Dead clone looks pretty sweet for the 99¢ asking price (limited time sale!).

I'm a hopeless sucker for twin stick shooters - especially horror-themed ones, and this looks to be my cup of tea indeed. There's even different progressing levels (unlike iDracula and Minigore) and some RPG-ish upgrades - plus different selectable characters.

I'm all over this - impression to follow.

  3. Being the one guy on the fucking internet who thought the demo was merely passable and having bleated constantly about the two corrupt UK mag reviews, I'm going to look like such a faking, tinfoil-hat wearing cunt because everyone in the rest of the known universe seems to have a huge boner for this game.

    ;(

Naaah - there's loads of GAF turds that are saying the same thing. I believe that you are sincere and truthful - but a bunch of them seem to do that kind of shit regularly so that they can feel superior to the hive-mind.

  4. EDIT: oops, I just saw your Delgo link, even though it was in a huge font the first time around.

Heh heh. I can see how the sad, wet eye must have distracted you. I made the font even bigger - just for hilarity's sake.

Man! That Delgo trailer is so bad! It's pretty funny.

  5. Hello, my name is BaronVonBulkshit irl as well. I post on SA and drive around selling drugs(the legal kind) so I have a lot of time to listen to music and stuff. Basically marathoned all the podcasts over the last few weeks and you guys are pretty funny here's one(1) seal of internet validation. I like to play video games they're pretty fun, but sometimes I rage at them.

I also play eve, but am banned from goon squad for scamming a lot of their members and selling off a bunch of alliance secrets from the capital ship forums and stuff to AAA. This is the second time, I got banned in 06 or so too for massacring a lot of goon newbies but no one knows what my first account was.

Other than that, as of right now I've been sitting on phone with xbox live CS for over half an hour which is worse than repeatedly slamming my dick in a car door, all for a 9 cent charge from last year when my credit card expired and their amazing system won't let me remove my current cards. Life is great/

Also in grade 7, the teacher called a suicide intervention person on me because I wrote "I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS ANYMORE" on my dumb english test. I just wanted to go home early, jesus.

    Hello.

    Dear BaronVonBulkshit,

Please start posting on Idle Thumbs a lot. Your sense of humor is exactly what I came here in search of.

Thanks dude (or "lady", but I suspect "dude" - maybe both. Who cares???),

    -Alex "zomboid"

  6. What's wrong with colorful scifi?

It's not the colors that are problematic - it's the Furry/Westernized Anime vibe. If that floats your boat - then knock yourself out. Have fun with your sensual warriors.

The episode of the Simpsons where they introduce Poochie to the Itchy and Scratchy show best illustrates my point. There's a scene where the artist is concepting Poochie with a gaggle of marketing execs looking over his shoulder and one of the execs says "Can you rastafarize him by 10%?".

I saw this on flickr when I was looking for the above image:

    And also:THERE'S THIS.

  7. I especially lovvved driving on the moon and seeing Earth in the distance. That was such a memorable moment! And it was just 'a thing' in the game, not a huge plot point or choreographed cinematic, but a goosebump-inducing set nonetheless.

I felt exactly the same way.

  8. OK - we need to have a chat about this James Cameron Avatar business:

    3840730664_7bb54d2168.jpg

WTF??????? I mean – I love all the ALIENS scifi military stuff, but those fucking alien designs are shudder inducing. Ugh! Gabe from Videogum said they look like “Jar Jar Binks fucked a character from World of Warcraft” and I think he’s dead on. Guh! SOOOOOOO TERRIBLE!!! The dragon monsters are really cool and the world looks neat – but!!!! On top of it – that fruity fucking font they’re using fits those blue rastafarian Joe Camel sad, wet-eyed things like a glove. Ack! This is for furries and/or 4 year olds and I do not feel welcome there at all.

  9. I found it closer to his earlier films in storytelling opposed to that in Kill Bill and Deathproof.

I completely agree. This was much more Reservoir Dogs/Pulp Fiction - dialog driven. I'd daresay I even liked it better because it wasn't so mired in pop culture references (not entirely anyways). The script really is fantastic.

I thought he was bloody hilarious in it, hammy as fuck, one dimensional but funny and I imagine that was what was asked of him, the multi-dimensional character of the basterds came from each one-dimensional member (like in classic WWII films).

Yeah - he definitely went broad with the character - but I loved it. I like Pitt best when he plays wacky characters like in 12 Monkeys or Snatch. He's just got a knack for the kind of thing and I love watching him do it.

I do think that Eli Roth should have played it more stoic, and QT should have given him a LOT less dialog (like maybe just the line before the waiter scene in the theater). The guy's a douche from the get-go, but man - what a terrible actor! His performance was the only distracting one in the whole movie. Even more than Mike Meyers - I thought his scene was great in that it was a break from all the heavy intrigue stuff - and glad it was that short.

I can't wait to see this movie again! That and District 9!

  10. Now that I've gotten used to the odd shooting mechanic (specifically, shooting dudes in the background) - I'm really enjoying the shootouts a lot more. There's an awful lot to like about this game!

  11. Inglourious Basterds is fantastic.

I agree - I loved the shit out of it! Best QT dialog to date, and the acting was superb. Brad Pitt killed it, but Christoph Waltz blew my fucking mind wide open. That guy is incredible!

There are a few flaws, but they are tiny in comparison to other QT films. If you hated the dialog in Death Proof like I did, this will totally redeem QT as a writer for you.

  12. Rather than digging up a much older thread, and since the discussion seems more skewed towards ME1, I'll add this here.

I downloaded and started playing the new Pinnacle Station DLC last night, and am enjoying it - because it's like hanging out with an old friend I haven't spoken to in a long while.

If you don't like the combat in Mass Effect, you won't like this at all. It's basically a high-scoreboard, arcade-y take on it - where the challenge is to beat NPC's time/score in VR missions. And that's about it.

But, like I said - I'm enjoying it.

  13. I sing and play guitar in a band. My wife is the drummer, so it's cool that we get to travel together when we play out of town or tour.

I also draw, paint, do collages and design stuff when I make the time but frankly, outside of music - most of my free time is devoted to consuming other people's creative output: mostly games and movies, but books and comics too (though less frequently).

  14. I've been enjoying the shit out of this game. I found out about the controversy after I already purchased the game, but I probably would have bought it anyways. While I do find his views abhorrent - I respect his right to them. Not only that, there's a lot of other people that worked hard on this game who may not feel the same way. If the game was somehow a platform for this agenda - I would think differently, without a fucking doubt.

    Anyways - fun game!

  15. I realize that you were kidding.

It's not that I think you're actually the jerk you present yourself to be. Rather, I find it annoying that you are not clever or funny, even though you seem to think you are hilarious & feel compelled to constantly assert this.

But whatever, you're a big dog around here apparently, so have fun with that.

  16. For the record - I have never, not once confused any of your voices. Have you really gotten that many complaints about this? Seems kind of ridiculous to me as you all have distinctly different manners of speaking.

Great episode by the way. Struck the perfect balance between information & opinion with total jackassery, which is what keeps me coming back for more. Not like you could plan for that sort of thing, but it's nice when things work out sometimes.

  17. Not to be rude or anything, but when people link to iTunes items, I EXPLODE IN A MURDEROUS RAGE.

Fascinating! I have recalibrated my sensors and placed you at the center of the fucking universe. Hopefully this will prevent any future missteps on my part.

    In other news... YAWN!

  18. Tokyo! was an excellent recent watch of mine.

It consists of 3 shorts, 1 each directed by Michel Gondry, Bong Joon-Ho and Leos Carax. Each was a fun little take from an outsiders view of the Japanese city. While some had dramatic elements I would say that each were lighthearted and easy to watch.

I really dug this too. Especially the story about the agoraphobe.

  19. hey toblix - rad that you enjoyed Fieldrunners - it's definitely my favorite iPhone game.

I've seen screenshots of a snow map - so I'm pretty sure there's gonna be another map update at some point. Hopefully soon.
