  1. Count me as another disciple. Whenever I heard someone describe this series it didn't seem very interesting, but once I tried the Trials HD...trial...I was hooked. Don't think I'll ever get through the Extreme levels though. Inferno II makes me its bitch every time I play it.

  2. Looking over my list I'm amazed how few new games I've played this year (so far). I was able to clear out almost all of my backlog though. In chronological order:

    Bioshock

    RE5

    Snatcher

    Flower

    Tales of Vesperia

    Condemned 1

    Gears of War 1

    Gears of War 2

    Gun

    Crackdown

    Too Human

    Assassin's Creed

    Sam & Max Season 1

    Prince of Persia

    Secret of Monkey Island

    Oblivion

    Shadow Complex

    Batman: Arkham Asylum

  3. Oh, Lord. Right after hearing about Jake, no Nick, being stuck on the Bane fight, I got to that part myself. I thought "well, if this turns out t--" and then I had completed it.

Oh, and the Scarecrow part was awesome. Even if the gameplay itself was really simple, the visuals were magnificent.

What difficulty were you playing on? I had a bitch of a time with the Bane fight on hard, but it's my first time through..maybe I should have started on normal...

Also I chose the worst upgrades up to that point (stupid!) so I was stuck on the Bane fight from about 3am to 4am. It was that horrible time of night when I just get the logic and mechanics down and then keep completely forgetting both. Needless to say I felt like a champ once I finally beat him, but I'm kinda worried about the rest. I wanted to play more yesterday, but got sidetracked by Trials HD.

  4. The Martian Chronicles, Ray Bradbury

The Hound of Baskervilles, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

    Foucault's Pendulum, Umberto Eco

Jesus, you don't have to be so angry about it.

Actually I wanted to say I bought the massive compilation of The Complete Sherlock Holmes a while back and read through the whole thing in a few weekends. Some of the stories were so-so, but most were really great. I especially appreciated the complexity of Holmes himself, such as his cocaine addiction and feelings of boredom with life in general. The only thing I didn't like was when Arthur Conan Doyle (he's no Sir to me!) killed Sherlock and walked away for a few years, wrote Baskervilles (as a prequel), then needed cash and retconned his death. (Spoilers!) Not only was the explanation lame, but so were the subsequent stories. I can imagine my great grandfather being all pissed off the same way we are about Lucas.

  5. I was walking by this wall at work (marketing for industrial computer company) I've walked by a thousand times and nearly choked on my coffee when I happened to see this image (sorry crappy cell phone):

    Wizards.jpg

So yeah, I work with Wizards.

Have you encountered any boss wizard wizards in real life?

  6. I'm planning on getting this only because I was such a fan of the animated series and Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy represent the definitive B-Man & Joker™ to me.

Not a resounding endorsement, I know, but I'm still skeptical to see if all the elements we saw in the demo can be stretched out for a full length game. Also it seems to have a ridiculous amount of hype at the moment, how did it do that? Great IP, solid game, good release window? Is the formula that simple?

  7. I'm also at the relationship crossroads.

I could leave if I want, things are so rocky, or I could suck it up, stay, and start the long process of rebuilding. Do I really want the freedom I so often daydreamed of, or was that an illusion? Le sigh.

Better to not think about it and go take out my frustrations by being an asshole on GAF.

  8. Seemed like the game is 50% guys running around randomly killing people without any regard for tactics, 40% guys randomly driving/flying vehicles around in circles and occasionally dragging a good samaritan gunner with them, and 10% people actually playing the game for real.

Yeah, that's pretty accurate. Still had a good time though. In a strange way all that chaos adds to the charm for me.

  9. This may sound stupid (especially to a Battlefield vet) but I love the simplicity of the whole thing. There is no choice between public or private games, there aren't multiple modes like deathmatch or whatever, there is one game type, one mode. This way everyone who is playing Battlefield is just playing Battlefield without splitting the user base across whatever.

    Until the DLC anyway.

  10. Yeah I'm pretty excited to get into this, but the servers are crumbling under the onslaught of gamers. How was EA not prepared for this?

I just keep running through the training mission. By the time they get it sorted out I should be much better flying planes at least.

  11. Steve McNair had an affair

And it seems to have cost him his life.

    The details are hazy,

    But his girlfriend was crazy

And he should have just fucked his wife!

I made up that limerick in a marketing meeting today. Sorry Steve, but your name had a simple alliteration that inspired me. Also, limericks are cool. Also, yes that was very 4chan immature of me. :mock:

  12. Wow, I think Point Lookout is my favorite of the DLC so far. It's expansive and spooky, with lots of little things to find and a good variety of optional side missions. Plus, Desmond is one cool ass motherf'ing ghoul.

  13. Not that it's too soon, just very 4chan immature of you. Besides, he doesn't even need the joker paint to look creepy.

I always watch those early Jackson 5 videos and think of the child prodigy and what could have been, but then I think that's not fair, and maybe he was happy wrapped inside his own insanity.

But now is not the time for that either, today we should just appreciate the legacy.

  14. I just wanted to save my gamerscore today for posterity, because it will never be this awesomely emo again.

    emo.jpg

Also, I'm going to be the lead doctor in our company's training video, which will be unintentionally hilarious, and I'm expecting a big bag of weed today. So life is good!

  15. My personal boycott of Activision only extends to games I'm not interested in anyway. It's a very convenient boycott.

I know the comparison is kind of lame, but I just finished Infamous. Is this really different enough to warrant my attention? Even if so, is it any good?

  16. Some days I think he's a tool and represents everything wrong with 'star developers' and some days I think he's exactly the kind of tool the industry needs. Either way I agree, he's an arrogant tool.

Let's see what he does next first though, which will be very interesting to see.

  17. I wish I could avoid The Kingdom areas, but I'm kind of an Achievement whore. I mean 'completionist' which is exactly the same thing, but less insulting for some reason. So I agree the hub area is devoid of personality, but I'm hunting Templars.
