Left 4 Thumbs - The Homethumbing 2

I'm up 4 this but I see no servers! -
http://www.the-whispered-world.com/ After what feels like years of inactivity, the English version of The Whispered World has gone gold. The UK release is 23 April! Screenshots here: http://www.justadventure.com/Upcoming_Releases/WhisperedWorld/WhisperedWorld.shtm I can't tell much about the gameplay from the trailer since it's 80% cutsenes. It looks like it could be a linear game with puzzles along the way, but I sure hope not. Someone posted what I think is a "speed run" of the German version if you're interested. No idea how they're distributing it. FAQ section please!

(This post said something about how I want to get FIFA going) We're playing FIFA 11 on the PC. If someone wants to play another version or on another platform, we'll need separate threads. I doubt there's a real danger of that happening though. Edit: HOW TO ADD PEOPLE AS FRIENDS 1. Get your EA Account set up 2. Make sure you have a Master ID (The game calls this Persona. Never expect consistency from EA) 3. Log in to EA Soccer 4. Go to My Player Hub 5. There's a tiny tiny link that says Search for Friends I'll try to keep this list updated: Thumbs with FIFA Grippager Patters666 Toblix

Good to know you're still on board!
-
Bump? I'm getting the feeling that sports games are not all the rage around these parts
-
Me and Toblix got it tonight. He's definitely doing well considering that he has to learn both FIFA 11 and The Rules Of The Game. In fact, I see myself in him So I'm ready to start playing Thumbs. Since this is Electronic Arts, the whole friend system is of course overly complicated. I'll explain it in the first post for everyone.
-
Sweet. Who else has got FIFA11 on PC? Might as well start organising if we want to do team play. Next week some time? Correction: I meant 30 quid
-
I just tried FIFA11 on the PC and man was I surprised. I'm playing it with a wired 360 controller and it definitely works. Me and Toeblix are getting it I think. It's like 30 bucks (which seems to be usual) but I obviously wouldn't mind getting it cheaper. Any other online sales?
-
I wish you could turn them off but it's getting less jarring.
-
So how do I turn off the kindergarten mode where pulsating blue circles tells me what I can interact with in each area? I don't know if I can be bothered playing through it if I'm just going through the motions
-
I'm still in Sydney but going home on holidays in a few weeks so no worries there.
-
Yeah I thought I hated sports games until I was introduced to Fight Night, FIFA, NBA and NHL. FIFA is the only one that really holds my interest though.
-
If we're doing PC, then it's FIFA11 If console, it doesn't matter. Let it simmer
-
The PC version of FIFA 10 is getting slaughtered. Apparently it's a lazy PS2 port while the console versions are "next-gen". Why's it gotta be so hard?
-
Hey Armchair, woz doin'? I was about to tear you a new one just for suggesting I play FIFA with a mouse and keyboard! But then I realised that a good gamepad would make all the difference. As for the version — I reckon you can't go wrong with the latest. However, FIFA10 is like half the price of FIFA11 so my diagnosis is: FIFA 11 = Better game (although newcomers wouldn't know) FIFA 10 = Higher participation rate and still a kick-ass game Just for reference, I can get FIFA10 for like 30-40 bucks. Get it second hand and they'll probably give it to ya
-
(for the uninitiated, it's not 1vs1 necessarily. FIFA 11 has a full 11vs11 mode online. sounds awesome, and could be a full Thumbs night)

It's getting absolutely battered on the Steam forums. The main point of contention seems to be the ninja rope behaviour I think the interface needs a major overhaul. You can't navigate with the keyboard and you have to leave the lobby to edit or create schemes (I don't know this for sure because I can't make private lobbies) I think something is missing from the game, cause you more or less end up using the jetpack and dynamite/mines 90% of the time. I think the reason is that the maps are too small and you don't get the choice between attacking and digging in or preparing long term strategies. Team17 have a representative on the Steam forums and I assume they'll patch this game drastically over the next few months.
-
Haha, yeah. And then there's the space bar/enter key confusion. Try to jump with the space bar and you fire the bazooka with 1% strength. I got the sound working by updating directx, I hope that can help someone

Getting no music (and the voice is chopy) and I must say the menu doesn't make sense to me. Bad interface designer! Bad interface designer!

I'm getting it, but I don't know if I should wait until they slap the SteamPlay sticker on it. Apparently they haven't started on the OSX version, and it'll be Team17's first Mac title. That's why I expect it to be late and poorly ported. :violin:

Me and my flatmate are on an Internet plan with a monthly 100GB cap, and I'd like to be able to track how much traffic is going to each device. I don't want to log websites or anything, I just want to make sure that it's roughly even. Is the only solution to install a bandwidth monitor on my computer?

Soundtracks for the video-games, and your most beloved ones
Grippage replied to Snooglebum's topic in Video Gaming
The LucasArts soundtracks are great in-game, but let's be honest — who can sit down and listen to this on its own? TmZ_sI0EAb0 The Dig is really the only LucasArts soundtrack that I can enjoy as a stand-alone piece of music. You can get it here for free. Brilliant ambient music Braid and Machinarium both have brilliant music. The Neverhood has fun music too: sYWjBNyhM08 -
