  1. Walmart has changed the Diablo 3 description, but the one for the Collector's Edition still has a jem or two (emphasis mine):

The Diablo III Collector's Edition PC/ Mac game gives players with an opportunity to explore familiar settings such as Tristram. The role-playing video game revolves around the Warriors that survived the onslaught of the armies of the Burning Hells and have gone mad from their ordeals. It is up to a new generation of heroes to face the forces of evil threatening the world of Sanctuary. The Barbarians come equipped with a variety of revamped skills at their disposal; this is based on the use of their incredible physical prowess. Its captivating and interesting theme and features make this an amazing entertainment solution. Featuring scintillating graphics and advanced user interface the PC video game offers hours of nonstop fun.

  2. I had this weird feeling of Deja-Vu while listening to the Driver 2 discussion. For a few minutes I thought I that section was cut from an older episode ...or maybe I could download files from the future.

Then I realized a very similar discussion on the Gamers with Jobs podcast with Chris as guest. (at minute 1:44)

The discussion went the same way on both podcasts: What the twist ending should be.

  3. Damn, just when me and Josip were getting to know each other ;(. Oh well, at least I don't have to do anything over.

I'm also at that place in the game. I will not miss the annoying Warren who wanted me to kill some dudes just so he could get high. Josip was cool, though.

I did alot of side-missions (I'm a completionist) which felt like a lot of grinding and was kinda boring. Maybe new area in the second act will help alleviate that feeling.

Has anyone seen Permanent Death? Someone is chronicling his game from a first-person narrative, and stopping after his character dies.

  4. I think I found That Guy. Here's a quote from his report of the 2008 EA Shareholders meeting (emphasis mine):

After the meeting, I went to the ERTS company arcade and played some games. I always look forward to my annual John Madden playtime. A new game was there this year, a very realistic EA NASCAR racing game--I had a great time playing it. Some sports items were in the arcade also. I had not noticed these items before. Several autographed items were in clear locked boxes, including an autographed Karl Malone basketball shoe. My favorite was the picture of a young Michael Jordan in a Bulls jersey typing on a 286 desktop computer (with the old floppy drives and tiny green screens). That one was classic--if anyone at EA is reading this, one hit at next year's meeting would be having copies of that picture for shareholders.

  5. Hi,

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I'm looking for some specific old/new recommendations.

I'm getting a DS now, probably along with 2-3 games.

I have another friend that has a DS with one game currently: FF3.

Suppose I want to enjoy my DS both for stylus adventury goodness and multiplayer, what are the must-haves?

Is Mario Kart great in single cart mode? Or should my friend get a copy as well? (If Wi-Fi gaming is fast enough, I guess I could play with others) - Is Advance Wars a good substitute for that (multiplayer), if I'm more into strategy?

I know that I'll probably like Hotel Dusk and a Phoenix Wright, but don't they have a short shelf-life? (I know... silly question to ask about adventure games)

Dawn of Sorrow is on my list, and if I can find it, the GBA aria/harmony double-pack

And finally, what of the more "weird" games such as the stylus kirby and warioware?

    Thanks for the help!

  6. Has anyone read the Lord of the Clans novel?

It fills the plot gap between Warcraft II and III that the game should have filled. It's not a translation of the game to a novel like Jane Jensen did with Gabriel Knight, so it may interesting.

If you're willing to risk it, tell if if it's any good :D

Oh, and the Lord of the Clans trailer is on the original Starcraft CD

  7. Some stuff to think about (Also, Hi. I'm new here):

The G-Man obviously sent you to city 17 to do SOMETHING. Was it to simply spoil the Combine's hold on City 17? What about Cities 1-16? What motive does he have to keep you out of the loop?

During the buggy ride, you can look through some binoculars and see him talking with rebels in their base. A base you arrive at later. Were I gordon, I would have asked them what the G-Man said. A man wearing a suit walking on his own near dams and warzones is a bit suspicious.

And what about Breen's position? Did he, as administrator, planned the Black Mesa incident? Did "Our Benefactors" promise him a position of power in one of their cities?

Regarding the Vortigaunts, the one that installs the gauss gun on your airboat reveals some information, of which I understood the following:

    1) They're the slaves from HL1.

    2) They share a hive mind, akin to the Borg, Zerg, or Buggers, whatever's your Sci-Fi inclination, and so they remember you from Black Mesa, they remember you from Xen.

    3) The end boss in HL1 enslaved them, but they were hurt when you destroyed it.
