Played a very short game that I got in one of those huge Itchio charity bundles a while back, The Supper. It's by Octavi Navarro, who did some art on Thimbleweed Park and has made a bunch of little cartoony dark comedy horror adventure games. This one is a mash-up of Monkey Island 1 and Sweeney Todd, it's got lovely art (a slightly more cartoony version of the old Lucasarts style, which is refreshing amongst all the Sierra pastiche art that is so prevalent in modern indie adventures), some nice animations and tunes, and a fun dark vibe. The only negatives really are that it's very short and easy (basically a compliment, as I would have liked more of it!), that the UI is sometimes a little too streamlined for its own good, and that it would have been nice for the twenty or so narrator lines to be voice acted. Tiny nitpicks, though, in a very fun little game.

This one is now getting a sequel!

  2. Just got me and I'm really enjoying it so far. I've really mostly been playing Mario Kart World on it but I love that. The Welcome Tour is......fine. I'm really hoping some adventure games for the Switch 1 get the mouse controls ported to them.

  3. Definitely failed but I feel compelled to keep posting here since it's now the oldest forum I've posted at that's still going! Adventure Gamers recently had their forums suddenly shut down after being sold off to a gambling company, and that was the place where I discovered Idle Thumbs

  4. What do you like to read? I got back into reading a lot last year and novellas and audio books were what made that transition easier. I am currently reading a lot of Sci-fi and fantasy lately so I've been into the Murderbot series and novellas by Nghi Vo.

I'm considering making it a goal for February to post or comment here 5x a week for the entire month. If anyone else is willing to do it with me I'm in.

I will also take the Idle Thumbs Forums challenge

The Mojo forums are relatively dead as well. But I'd fully support the return to forums. Especially with projects to share, the character limit and fleeting interest on social media is really annoying.

I never actually posted on the Mojo forums (just AdventureGamers) what if....this is the year I register?

But yes, there's a lot I'm kind of tired of with social media. I happily ditched Twitter when it got sold and I'm fine with Mastodon for communicating with the mutuals that only post there, but I don't see that getting any bigger and Bluesky is already bumping into the issues that Twitter was having from growing. I think the character limits and having to refresh the feed are frustrating too. I got really into RSS last year and that's actually been really fun.
