  1. As can be seen from those old threads, I really loved Prey. Such a nice game, it's one of the fps games that has been in my replay list for a long time.

One cool surprise about Prey was that if you own the disc version, you can get it to your Steam library with the cd key. I don't think there are many games that had that enabled in Steam?

  2. I played the free plays quite a lot of Badge Arcade. It was fun for what it was, but that ending was brilliantly handled.

In Europe we got four free demos last week. Really good week. Demos of Dr Kawashima Brain Training 3DS , Hey Pikmin, Ever Oasis and Miitopia.

  3. That was really heavy for an episode. I still don't know what I watched. It wasn't Twin Peaks, but it was an explosion of visual and audio signals.

I almost lost my mind listening to the tragic Hiroshima song while Lynch put out an artistic display of explosions within explosions. Then the episode turned out to be a silent movie homage and then a 50's b&w scifi horror homage.

This is some crazy show. I don't like these turns that this episode pulled, but I can't stop watching it. Most of my friends already gave up, but I'm signed up to see this ship sail to the horizon or to the rocks in the end.

  4. The new 3.0.0. update apparently brought some new features instead of the good old stability updates.

  5. Shame that this podcast series did not happen in the end.

I knew about Harry Potter already in the late 90's/early 2000's I suppose because of the first book's movie coming out, it was impossible to avoid the media hype. I had never read any of the books and to this day I have avoided seeing all the movies because I didn't care. Some time ago, maybe three or four years ago I came upon the Stephen Fry narrated unabridged audio books and decided that now time is right to listen to these books through and finally know and understand what are these about.

Well, in the end these books were quite a lot of fun. I bet I would've been a fan if I had read the Finnish or English versions of these in the 90's. I have no need to see any of the movies regarding Harry Potter because I don't care about those, but Stephen Fry narrated the books really well.

  6. I have also disliked heavily this sequel since it was announced. Even more after seeing the trailers. It just doesn't have any of the original's feel.

Modern movie makers just don't know how to make a dirty looking movie. It all feels artificial in this one

Also, the original was such catastrophic mess that it only became the cult legend movie that it is after massive constant rewrites, background fighting and huge production issues. It was just somehow pulled together in the end to become a mind blowing movie.

I wonder if Villeneuve and his crew have even gone to Japan to get the artistic views that Scott got when he went walking the Tokyo streets at night and seeing the industrial harbour of Kawasaki.

  7. I feel like I'm less and less interested in Beyond Good & Evil 2 with every new information that comes out. I'm just not into incredibly huge procedurally-generated worlds in games. I'm feeling a bit of Molyneux hype in those Ancel's words:

    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-06-15-beyond-good-and-evil-2-lets-you-create-your-own-character

This below I suppose everyone guesses especially now reading that above article:

    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-06-14-michel-ancel-doesnt-think-bg-and-e-2-is-a-switch-exclusive-and-he-would-know

Though it's nice that he says the photographing wildlife will be part of this game as well.

  8. After a year of silence, comcept updated their Kickstarter. You know, the one about Mighty No 9 where they made an ugly mediocre badly running game for some of the promised platforms and forgot to give people the physical and even some digital items they had pledged for.

    Quote

It’s been a long time since our last update. This is due to some internal adjustment we had in comcept for the past few months, but now everything is back on track! We are very sorry for the long radio silence. Here is what is going with Mighty No. 9:

     1. Hand Held versions They are not being cancelled, we are still in the process of porting. The porting had to be put on hold for a while due to the other versions being delayed and the recent adjustment we had in comcept. However, everything is back on track now. The developer restarted the porting process in early May, and we estimate to release them within 2017 (it could be earlier, but it’s hard to estimate a more precise date at this point). We will update on this when we have more information.

     2. Rest of the physical rewards They have been manufactured (most of them), and are getting ready to be shipped out in a couple of weeks. We estimate to ship everything out (with some reaching the backers) by mid-August 2017. Again, we are very sorry for the delay. Fangamer will be sending out emails to everyone (who is waiting for rewards) to confirm the physical address before the shipping. We will update when the email is out, and if you by some reason DID NOT get the email, please contact Fangamer at orders@fangamer.com so they can verify the information.

     3. The “New Company” This is probably the biggest piece of news. As many of you may have heard, Akihiro Hino (LEVEL-5 CEO), and Keiji Inafune (comcept CEO) will be co-founding a new company “LEVEL5 comcept”. What does this mean, you ask? It means that Akihiro Hino, and Keiji Inafune will be teaming up to make new games!!! This does not affect Mighty No. 9 in any way, but who knows, maybe in the future Beck, and your favorite LEVEL-5 characters may be tagging along in new adventures? The possibilities are limitless here.

That is all for this update. Hope we answered some of your questions/concerns with this update. We will try, and bring you the next update much sooner next time!

     Mighty No. 9 team

My hope now is that this sudden purchase of comcept by Level-5 does not mean that Inafune will ruin Level-5 as well. Everyone needs to be really careful with what Level-5 puts out from now on. This was truly one of the worst Kickstarter I put money on, I totally fell for the hype. I should've known there was a reason why Inafune was kicked out of Capcom.

  9. AM2R was quite beautiful, this MercurySteam looks really ugly. Completely wrong kind of game for 3DS because most 3D games look like crap on 3DS. As a 3D enabled 2D graphics game this would've been a mindblowingly good looking game.

MercurySteam's history is also filled with not that good games and also games that I personally have not been intrerested in that much.

  10. Wtf was that Beyond Good & Evil 2 trailer? I didn't get the feel of the BG&E IP at all. Unnecessary swearing and all that. Online systems, what? Where's the real BG&E?

I mean the city looked amazing. It was a heavy Fifth Element like world, but I totally was put off by the swearing monkey guy. There's an interestingly lot cleavage shots in the trailer so that's a bit of a departure from the tone of the first game. It seemed like it tried so hard to be "a cool as fuck yo mothafucker!" trailer. The city and the space was cool, the characters not. Also if it's not a proper single player game then I'm not interested. I have no time for some forced co-op adventuring in a heavily online connected game.

I have no problem with it being a prequel, Jade was awesome as was Pey'j, but at least according to the initial artwork Ancel released, Pey'j will be in the game, but as a young pig. Also didn't the weird slob moustache pig in the beginning of the trailer say "Pey'j..." to the golden pig item?

Still, like with Shenmue 3, I don't believe for a second that BG&E2 is coming out still for at least three years. I can't give up on hope, Michel Ancel has never made a bad game. I didn't exactly like the trailer reveal, but since this was just a animated trailer instead of gameplay and they are supposed to even after all these years be just in preproduction phase so he has time to change many things.

This was a funny comment on the Eurogamer comments about Ubisoft :

Watched Far Cry 5 trailer - "Boom motherfuckers"
Watched BG&E2 trailer - "Bang Bang motherfuckers"

I was half expecting "Its-a-Me, Motherfuckers" while watching Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.

  11. By the way, I don't own Xbox One and also don't plan getting one, but I just really like the way they are going with the backgrounds compatibility. That's how it should be done. Really well done with the original Xbox and 360 games on Xbox One.

And Tacoma looks great, only two months anymore for that to be released. :gaming:

  12. Shenmue 3 has been postponed until second half of 2018. Yu Suzuki posted a Kickstarter update just moments ago.

I'm not surprised at all, they have not really shown anything in the past two years. It will take years still before Shenmue 3 is ready, but that is ok as he has Sony's backing so money isn't a problem.

I just hope Sega will get Shenmue 1 and 2 re-released on PC.

  13.

Edward McMullen's and Tyler Glaiel's new game is coming out in Steam in four weeks, I haven't really followed what he has been doing lately so this took me by complete surprise.

Graphics style heavily leans on SMB, but I really like the teaser trailer. The blob like main character reminds so much about Gish. The game I love the most of all of Ed's creations, though in that game he mostly did the graphics only I think?

The game is also coming out on Nintendo Switch at least, but a bit later than the initial PC release.
