Hellooo
I just spent ages writing up the NCsoft Europe Christmas party '07, it's potentially an interesting read for some of you, especially the bored amongst you, as it's kinda long. I felt that now the company is practically dead anyways, it would be fine to share the story.
It was a kind of a semi ARG style treasure hunt for 100 odd people in 30 taxis, and took me and my team months of planning to put together.
To tempt you further I can reveal that it features Alex Ashby as a butler.
http://roflopolis.com/roflopolis/article/the_ncsoft_europe_christmas_party_07/On December 7th 2007, the just over 100 strong rabble of NCsoft Europe employees gathered in the largest part of the office. They knew they were due a Christmas party but the details had been kept a secret, and now as they stood waiting, eating crappy nibbles, drinking a few beers, and watching a looping video reel of Christmas songs, rumours were being spread that the party might not happen at all.Suddenly the TV blared out bursts of static, calling for attention, and as everyone looked on with raised eyebrows, a face appeared behind the snow, a strangely dressed girl. “Ah, there you are” she uttered. The Ice Queen, as she would be known, informed everyone standing around that their party had been ‘stolen’ and they must now show her that they had the necessary Christmas spirit to earn it back, and prove they were worthy.
It was the start of an evening which would see each of the participants chauffeured around Brighton in taxis, hunting for various locations where they would perform Christmas challenges, each one of which would earn them enough information to eventually locate the party itself.

that's my favourite wizard.

you are not a douche, i encountered this many times or got angry at other departments for cutting corners and being happy with shite, instead of trying to output to the highest attainable quality.
some people are so mediocre it burns.

Whilst at the Science museum a few months ago with Rusalka (yusfter) and her little sisters, Marek and myself discovered a PC in the corner of the kids area with a game on it, sarcastically proclaming "video games!" we sat down to play, and err well it wasn't that bad actually, and we completed it
You can play it online, It's not exactly mind taxing, but it does have user created content and was quite a fun little puzzle thing. Maybe someone here can make something good from it. Or at least rude.
It revolves around a little ball, and placing tiles that affect the environment in different ways, that can eventually be used to get your ball to safety. It's like chu chu rocket meets lemmings or something.

"Play, Create and Share."
I'm sure that's someone else's tag line ¬¬
updated!
Actually I've just noticed that the online version has far more levels than the one we played, maybe it does get evil at the end, far too evil for small children to be exposed to ¬¬
Also it has won some awards... neat
Launchball is a physics-based Flash game produced by the Science Museum in London, to co-incide with the reopening of their hands-on gallery 'Launchpad'.
The aim of the game is to get a ball from a starting position to a 'goal' by placing additional blocks onto the grid-based screen. Blocks include springs, slopes, magnets, lights, mirrors and so on.
The game has won numerous awards, including at SXSW 2008, where in the Interactive awards in won in the 'Games' category and the 'Best in Show' award[1]. It has also won the Innovative and Overall award at the 2008 Museums and the Web awards[2], and is nominated for a 2008 Webby Award[3].

it's a hidden compliment, you have to work for it, even though you deserve it a thousand times.

NCsoft Europe gather together one final time, and 'sing' the final countdown in singstar. hehehe.

If so, and I'm currently expecting approximatley 0 people, you should attend this:
X48 GameCamp
What: X48 is a marathon gamecamp where students and indie developers use Microsoft's XNA Studio 3.0 to create a game in less than 48 hours.
Where: University of Derby (map)
When: Friday 20th - Saturday 21st March 2009
it's something Nachimir has organised in conjunction with microsoft, and should be a whole lotta fun.
-
lazy mods?
oh right, hang on....
-
I didn't like it ¬¬
I like lots of different elements of it a lot - menus, music high scores board, etc, but so far I havent clicked with the gaming element of it enough to feel compelled to keep playing.
I'm hoping it will click into place with a bit more time spent though

Funny how all the skynet security installations are in comic shops ¬¬
man that'sa failure of an ARG / viral site thing.

the 'Dual Analog controller' for PS1 was entirely analogue, or at least some of it was, hence the name - You had to press that little 'analog' button in the middle to activate it though. DS2 it became standard.
wow i hate that i know that.
Flower is win though

Auditorium was awesome from the demo thing on the site, it looks like they're trying to port it to iphone, so i'll wait for that version with much anticipation.
As for Eliss, stage 3 is a bitch. i think this is going to require 3 people to play usefully hehe.
