I think Jacoby and his shovels will have significance. Remember he said that his own investigations into Laura Palmers death will last his whole life (paraphrasing), so I am sure his spray painting of shovels will have meaning. Maybe he has found out the location of Glastonbury Grove and is planning to dig it up? maybe the gold coating is some kind of protection? I don't know but I am pretty sure his obsession is still burning deep. I personally cannot wait until we see how the older cast relate to this new world, because sometimes those parts feel a bit like a Christmas special reunion show lol
