  1. I tried Dwarf Fortress last year, just to say I did, and I ended up having a lot of fun with it.  It actually reminded me of something like a CK2: complex systems and tons of potential for emergent storytelling, but a completely inscrutable interface (even using a tileset, like I did).  I followed a tutorial to get my first fortress up and running, and it was dead useful.

    But...

Dwarf fortress is one of those games I always want to play in theory but am put off for the same reason I refuse to use vim.

    Yeah.

  2. Hi!  I am please to announce that MarcusTegtmeier and I have begun work on our Winter Wizard Jam masterpiece, "Hunker Down".  We'll be using Unity, and following the "Focused Palette" diversifier.

    What is Hunker Down?

A quiet, sleepy town sits in the woods.  All seems still, calm, peaceful.  But YOU, dear player, know better, for a fearsome blizzard is fast approaching!  Bereft of supplies, you have only a short time to gather what you need before the storm hits.  You'd better hurry up... and hunker down.

    • Explore a beautiful, snowy town
    • Deal with the neighbors
    • Prioritize to maximize your preparedness
    • Survive the storm

  3. Hi there.  I'm looking to join a team!

    What I offer:

     - Programming:  I do it for a living, so I'm pretty decent.  I'm not familiar with any game engines/frameworks, but I'm willing to learn them!  Just for you <3.

     - Writing:  I do it, but not for a living.  Am I any good?  I guess that will be a surprise.

I work full time, and I live in Austin, so if those are factors, um... now you know?  PM me if you're interested!

    PS: I promise I'm not a spy.

  4. Oh, hello.  I'm new, so I guess this is the place to be, huh?

I've been listening to yon thumbs for a while, usually while playing video games (it just seems to make sense).  I've been listening backwards through the archives between new episodes, which is occassionally disorienting.  I finally decided to join the forums because of the upcoming jam of wizards!  I would like to be a wizard.
