  1. I quit Divinity: Original Sin, at least for now. Complaint time:

    • The most help you ever get in figuring out where to go is a compass direction. "OK, let's wander the entire northern section of the map until we find a cave..."
    • You're essentially screwed if you try to fight enemies who are above your level, which is hell while exploring because enemies pop out of nowhere.
    • Oh my god, the camera. The game doesn't allow you to zoom out very far, so even though it's a top-down perspective, structures on the map are very close to the camera, which makes looking around just very nauseating for me. Plus, you just don't get to see very much at a time which sucks when you're trying to figure out where to go.

It's a shame, because I like the combat system a lot, and the ability to do co-op is really cool.

  2. I used that a bit, but mostly used the random function to fill out the database, just because I felt like it.

Something that came up a bit in the other thread: did anybody else play for quite a while after understanding everything? Even after I knew the story of the murder, I was convinced that Eve had killed Hannah (an explanation other than "twins" barely ever crossed my mind) and I still had a bunch of videos missing. So I didn't take the prompt to end the game and instead kept searching, sure that I could find out what had happened. That's when I got super into the tattoo, the coffee and tea, and the tap code. Obviously, nothing came of it, but it took me a while to give up. Did anybody else have that experience?

I had a similar experience! I had a few videos missing when I took the prompt but I ended up coming back the next day to get the rest of them because I was so compelled to know everything. It's pretty uncommon for me to want to be a "completionist" so it was cool to have a game that made me want to come back for that. Even when I felt like I had everything figured out, I couldn't shake the feeling that there *might* be some video clip left that would uncover an important detail.

  3. I do not like these people.

There have been a few times where I've been about to send "nice shot" to them, and then they do it to themselves and I'm just like... Fine. You don't get compliments, person.

  4. Not sure if it's been mentioned already but I really enjoy Match3. It's about video games, but with a focus on cultural impact. Hosted by Gita Jackson (one of my favorite games journalists), Patrick Klepek, and a guy named Sam Phillips who is a middle school teacher (unexpected, but I really like the discussions about his students and their experiences with games).

  5. I'll say one thing for the Talos Principal: the vast majority of the puzzles they made are good to great. There's only a couple that leap out at me that are bad (ie: i know exactly how to solve them and its just a a pain to do it).

That said, even with 18 hours played and only a couple puzzles left in the main 3 temples, I think i might be done with it. To get the proper ending you have to find all the hidden bonus stars, and there are too many around that I know will be a huge pain in the ass and I don't want to bother.

I looked up that ending after getting the other two and it seems to just be a bonus little thing for people who were really dedicated to getting all of the stars. The "proper" ending seems to be the one you get for

getting to the top of the tower

  6. I have a Kindle Voyage and I absolutely love it. I love not having to cart around heavy books anymore. Also, and maybe this is just me being excited about a new device because I have only had it for a few months, but I've been reading a lot more than I did before I had it.
